CheckPoint: Pragmatism and Analytic Philosophy How are pragmatism and analytic philosophy uniquely American movements' What ideas make them different from the way Europeans of the same period were thinking' Pragmatism and analytic philosophies are uniquely American movements because both philosophies were created by philosophers that basically conducted their teachings here in America which makes them both American movements. What makes pragmatism and analytic philosophies so unique is that both of them went against the European philosophical beliefs that reality can be permanent, supreme, and correct. The three main pragmatist thinkers were William James, C.S. Peirce, and John Dewey. All three of them believed that the Europeans were philosophically incorrect and that that the truth is relative to a time, place, purpose, and is always changing due to new information and new data. American Pragmatists believed that the analytic philosophy aimed to define the analysis of a very difficult and complicated idea that can be altered by revealing a logical explanation that is easier and simpler way to explain to people so they can comprehend and understand. The majority of the famous philosophers utilized analytic philosophy in their teachings. On the other hand pragmatism is the philosophy that teaches that practical consequences and the comprehension of value and meaning. Pragmatism was also a large philosophical movement that included many people who claimed that ideology or proposition the total truth if it works in your benefit and ultimately the meaning of proposition is the practical answer of just accepting it and the unpractical ideas in life should just be rejected.
