28th June 2010 Ref: Objection to the proposed siting and the erection of a recreational facility to be built on the …………………………… playing field, …………………………………………… Dear '''''''''''''' In connection to the proposal for the siting and the erection of a recreation facility to be built on the …………………………………playing field, ………………………………. we the residents of ………………………….. would like to strongly oppose the proposal for numerous reasons which are neither exhaustive nor conclusive and are set out on the reverse side of the enclosed petition and would also like this letter and the petition to be filed on record. The communication from the parties who have held meetings in connection with the proposal have been extremely disjointed, close quartered and appear to lack the involvement, commitment and backing towards the proposal from local residents in particular from residents in the vicinity of the location for the proposed siting as not all residents were informed of the already held meetings and there has been no professional information, drawings, communication or contact details to object etc given to residents to be able to have any real justification towards the proposal. We feel all residents should have been better informed in connection with the proposal and should be able to voice their opinion for or against the proposal, yet as this is also a local run proposal, many residents feel that they can not or do not want to voice their objection in case there are repercussions (hence is why the petition is purely being submitted for residents living along ……………………….. only). Once there is a professional package of the proposal we also feel someone independent should be instructed to gather true, unbiased and confidential opinions from the local residents. There is also a great concern in particular for and from the elderly residents who back onto the playing field from ……………………….. Avenue and who already have certain issues with some of the youngsters using the field causing intimidating and unnecessary violation to their rights. Since the erection of the goal posts the field is attracting older children / adults using the field whilst drinking alcohol and leaving their cans and broken bottles lying around etc whilst on regular basis local residents clear up the rubbish and the broken bottles causing unnecessary work for local residents to ensure the safe use of the field for children and dogs. As this is a local community project which may benefit the local children in particular we are only objecting about the location of the proposed site and suggest the location should be where the old park was located for many years on the field at the end of ………….. Street which would also serve both the residents from ……………… and ………………….. We hope you will take the petition and objections seriously and in a professional concerning manner to which is intended.
