Organizational Behavior
There are four different organizations that describe similarities and differences. These organizations are The Louisiana Department of Veteran Affairs, The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Life Source Service Hospice and Louisiana State Office of Group Benefits. How different are these organizations' Are there many similarities' Can these organizations work together if there ever came a time to' There will be an understanding of each organization and knowledge of their mission.
In our society there are organizations that are designed to assist and benefit the people within the society. The Department of Veteran Affairs, The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Life Source Service Hospice, and The Louisiana State Office of Group Benefits mission have a lot of similarities. Their ultimate goal is to provide services that will improve the quality of life of its customers. The historical passing of Healthcare reform by President Barrack Obama has made a positive impact on these organizations by enabling them to better serve the American public. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Louisiana State Office of Group Benefits, FEMA, as well as Life Source Service Hospice are fund and/or regulated by the federal government to some degree. The purpose of Federal Regulation is to insure these organizations and others alike will provide their services with a high level of integrity and character.
The Department Of Veteran Affairs offers a variety of benefits to its veterans. There are benefits such as home loans, GI Bill (education benefit), CHAMPVA (medical insurance), disability compensation, disaster relief, and medical attention to veterans (www.va.gov). The Federal Emergency Management Agency is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security. The primary function of the organization is to coordinate the response to disasters that the local and state authorities request. Both organizations assist in the relief of the American people in time of hardship. FEMA provide assistance during times of natural disasters, while the Department Of Veteran Affairs also provide assistance to veterans during times of disasters, whether it be a natural disaster to the property of a veteran or a medical disaster to the veteran or family member. The Office Of Group Benefit (OGB), also provide assistance by offering health benefits to state workers, which will help prevent a moment of hardship to state employees and their families provide they are in need of medical attention. Life Source Services Hospice is a licensed certified Hospice located in the Baton Rouge are, which offers complete Medical Supervision Physicians, Registered Nurses and Pharmacists manage all medical issues. This organization also offers pain relief and symptom management, medical supplies and equipment according to each patient’s needs, comfort and safety (www.lifesourcehospice.com/services.htm).
As stated earlier, Office of Group Benefits, FEMA, Department of Veteran Affairs, and Life Source Service Hospice all have missions that are similar, and they all are designed to assist different groups of people in America. Yet there are some differences in each of their organizations. Within Life Source Service, their goal is mainly to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care for the terminally ill, as well as providing compassionate care using their own integrity, heart, and knowledge. The Office of Group Benefits mission is to offer an employee benefits system that meets or exceeds industry standards and/or benchmarks. (www.groupbenefits.org) OGB’s main goal is to enroll as many full-time employees of any participating state agency or school board in their insurance plan. Employees are able to enroll their dependents, which includes spouses and children, up to the age of 21, as long as they are full-time students, until October 2010, when the new health bill will come into play where you are allowed to carry your children on your insurance premiums until they are 26 years of age.
FEMA’s main goal is to help with the recovery from natural disasters, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes, along with several other state and federal businesses. Their mission is to get displaced individuals back to where they were before the natural disaster hit, and the demand for assistance is high and especially needed when different regions are shattered by a natural disaster. The Louisiana Department of Veteran’s Affairs major goal is to provide comprehensive care and quality service to veterans and their families, and to make sure that they are aware of the benefits and services that they are provided with for serving our country.
The similarity of these four organizations is the fact that they offer services to assist individuals in achieving quality of life during time of hardship, whether it is by natural disaster relief, providing insurance and medical attention, or monetary compensation for illness or injuries. Yes, all four organizations take care of their patients and/or clients, but they differ in that they have set certain goals in how they provide services. Whether it is through compassionate care, medical care, federal or state assistance, or medical assistance, they all try to meet or exceed their standards of services, and keep what’s important first, the patient.
