Knowing and understanding your colleagues as individuals embeds greater trust and openness in working relationships. To be successful, it is vital that communication barriers are knocked down for a good relationship between managers. Knowing an understanding each other’s roles will lead to a stronger company, I would propose a round table discussion with all managers to attend an outline their position in the company, roles and responsibilities.
Office administrative mangers definitely have to wear many hats as they have to effectively interact well with the entire office and make sure that the office runs smoothly. An administrative manager oversees the administrative operations of a business. An may supervise administrative personnel within an office, such as receptionists, filing clerks, secretaries, or executive assistants.
In addition to performing general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, correspondence, scheduling appointments and meetings, and fielding queries, an administrative manager is responsible for implementing and managing a business or organization’s administrative systems. This type of management may include such responsibilities as procuring and managing the budget for office supplies, implementing the business or organization’s filing and documentation retrieval systems, overseeing the operation of office equipment such as photocopiers, printers, and fax machines, and managing the calendar and schedule of one or more executives.
Considering the diversity of functions, someone holding an office manager position is expected to have many talents. Some of the competencies which he or she is expected to possess are problem solving and decision making abilities, integrity, flexibility, accuracy and the ability to cope with pressure.
Because administration is integral to the operation of all businesses, an administrative manager can be considered the first point-of-contact for general office queries within a business or organization. Without a sound first point of contact the business as a whole suffers. All modern businesses require office administrative mangers that can implement and manage office administration systems effectively they are one of the most vital people in any modern day successful business.
