Dimensions: Width: 4.29 Height: 7.05 Weight: 258 Author Purpose: Author’s purpose in writing the book is that she wants that people came to know about her real time experience. Betty Mehmoody right on this subject because its her real-time experience. Betty Mehmoody trying to tell her story by dramatizing it in action. Authers style : Author style is formal and there is forcefulness in her writing. Theme: True story of an American woman persuaded by her Iranian husband to visit his homeland with their daughter, upon which he informs her that they will never return to the United States. Thesis: It's an inspiring story of what a mother will do for her child.  Description :   In novel the Author wants to shows the importance of understanding and accepting each other's cultures before marrying and having a child. It shows that Betty got married to an Iranian without actually understanding his culture. This is clear by the fact that she rejects his culture after witnessing it. NARRATION: On 3rd August 1984 Betty Mahmoody arrived in Iran with her four year old daughter Mahtob. She was convinced by her husband for a two week holiday and to meet her husband’s family. She with his husband and her daughter used to live in America before visiting to Iran. Her husband Dr Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody (Moody) was an American educated and qualified doctor. Fact that is unknown to betty before arrival to Iran is that Moody lost his job at the Michigan hospital where he had been working. Upon their arrival at the airport in Tehran, Iran's capital. Moody's families were there to greet them with showering flowers upon Betty and Mahtob. The day before his committed day to go home, Moody told his wife and daughter, "You are here for the rest of your life. Do you understand' You are not leaving Iran. You are here until you die." Over time Moody grew more and more violent and often beat Betty physical but also tortured her mentally, and emotionally. Often times he threatened to kill her and he even threatened to beat Mahtob. Once Moody separated Mahtob from her mother for several weeks. After many escape plans, Betty was given the name of the man who would help her and Mahtob to reach them out of Iran. They crossed the border into Turkey and made their way to the America after a week of walking in the mountains with smugglers. And then finally reached at America safely. Exposition: This novel is based upon the writer’s real time experience , and this novel is all about a story, so there is no explanation and analysis or or clarification of an idea , this novel is all based on suspense and climax and there is an happy ending. Argument: Writer takes sides on an issue, and the issue is the importance of understanding and accepting each other's cultures before marrying and having a child. Style (intellectual qualities): Writer writes in a way to create an impact of the violent . Poetry: There is no poetry work in this novel Biography: The novel gives full-length picture of the subject Plot:The novel is handled in a very impressive way that first there is introduction about the main character then the story starts with a suspense then there create a climax and finaly a statisfaction is seemed there when the main character reaches to her destination. Character: character delineation is direct, she was telling about her real experience of life . Affects of this book : This novel realy affects me a lot because it is a harrowing story of a lady , with her brutel husband that how a girl or a lady is traped in her husbands emotional trap. I would suggest this novel to every girl or lady that she should read this and keep her eye open in every matter of life.
