Abstract
NCBL's rationale was to endorse standard-based education. to obtain federal funding for schools, each state would develop basic skills assessments in diverse grades during the school
year. Initiating national standards and exams for students to pass was not intended, and state.
would form and assess their standards
NCLB or No Child Left Behind, characterizes legislation which endeavors to achieve a
values- foundation in reforming education , which will sanction federal programs to embrace
holding primary as well as secondary schools to eminent ideology , while making opportunities available in school preference while placing immense prominence on reading within schools. NCLB requires every student regardless of their background to achieve the same standards in math and reading, this also includes disadvantaged and special education students
to met the set standards. (Sandra, A 2010). Additionally NCBL mandates , all teachers must meet the license and certification prerequisites in state they teach. In the event teacher does not meet any of these qualifications they will not be allowed to teach these mandatory requirement are met. (Armstrong, D2009).
There are many reasons for both opposing views one of the controversial areas is money, zoned school districts is also highly opposed, by many due to their children being transported to school away from the district school choice is also opposed because many feel, parents or custodians will send their children to good quality schools, and deprived schools which will result in student and funding lost . Many teacher oppose the act because they feel they will have to lower their overall educational goals and "teach to the test. Opposition to the voucher system express concerns that alternative schools may open for learners in low-income families, while the many opponents also feel that the utilizing of vouchers to compensate for private-schools will become extensive, and public schools will have excessively high enrollments of learners with disabilities. Open enrollment opposer believe this may cause choosing school for reason other than eduactional quality, in addition oppopser also believe that charter school would take away funding from public school. (Armstrong, D2009).
Supporters , however feel that choice in schools has tremendous prospective of taking action to the various needs of the students, and improving educational eminence, and supporters feel vouchers will give parents a better way to achieve the stability involving private and public education benefits. supports also believe that with open-enrollment parents will take a closer at the academic programs in schools. supporters challenge the traditional attendance-zone arrangement. They see school choice as a key ingredient in improving educational quality. (Armstrong, D2009).
The No Child Left Behind Act , from my point of view has many good points that could provide many benefits in the future, however it is going to take a lot of effort to put all of this in place in manner to where it will be effective for everyone, my main concern is students who may learner at a slower pace could suffer the most, from the act in the event care is not taken to ascertain that these student will be provided any addition help to achieve the goals which are set. As for the teaching standards I feel, should have been put in place a long time ago, as a parent ,I have seen from my past experience in the Virginia school system , where my son had trouble in reading , and it was clear that the teacher he had did not take time to see the slow ability and he suffered because of this in the quality of his education , he passed up through the grades without having the skills he should have acquired during his early childhood learning years.
What this will mean for my future in education ,is standards will be set for the abilities in which I must have in order to maintain a higher quality in my educational techniques in order to
hold a position as an educator, which some feel this inhibit the way they teacher, I feel I will be able to incorporate my abilities with the standards I will be required to meet , which in the end I feel this will not only require me to meet the set standards ,but also require me to continually evaluate my abilities and seek further training when required in order to be a successful educator and provide students with the best possible leaderships in a class room to help make a difference in the student's lives in the form providing them with the best possible education foundation.
Today the No Child Left Behind Act is turning it focus towards making these changes, whuch are neccessary in order to obtain a higher quality of education ,to include the use of today's technology ,the focus is to reward excllence while promoting improvement, the new reform act
provide incentives, such as grants , and focus on the locals need, although it was not stated, the present NCLB act may also be renamed.(ED,gov 2010).
