As the news director of a local television station I believe that the topic that I would use for a lead story would be the closing of the city parks three days per week. I believe that with this subject the local people would really want to know this information due to the fact that most of the public probably uses these local parks on a daily or a few day a week basis. The significance of this subject I believe is greater than the fact that a celebrity died. The public can get the information of the celebrity death in many other places rather than on the local news. I believe that it is basically the social responsibility of the local new to get out the local news rather than celebrity news. There are tabloid, blogs, and many other ways to get celebrity news across to the public that looks for this news. I believe it would almost border on a legal side that if this information could be put across this way that it should be shown. This certain information on the city parks closing three days per week can also be put in the newspapers for the public that does not watch the local news on a daily basis. There would be many advantages and disadvantages of choosing one over the other for the local news station also. The advantages is getting the information across to the audience that is in need of the news. The people that use the parks on a daily or a fews times a week basis would know either whether they want to protest the parks closing three days a week or would know that they are not allowed in the parks on these certain days. With this information put across it would say many people a lot of their time wasted if they did not have the information. The disadvantages of airing this subject instead of the celebrity death would mean that they audience that they have viewing may be less if they air the information about the parks closing. With choosing between the two subjects they could always take the story of the celebrity death and do a shorter story afterward and they may get the best of both’s information across. With putting the park story first they will catch the audience that needs the information and may also get the audience that would like the information about the celebrity due to the fact of showing both, but putting more into the story that actually involves the public that watches their news. With all of the changes taking the information and putting it onto the internet to catch that audience who only use their computers, smartphones, and other electronic devices they will catch the people out in the public that do not watch the news. In the past they would have had their local news show and then the newspapers they next day or so. With today’s technology the information would get across faster and the public would be able to do what they wanted with the information In today’s there is a great relationship between television, movies and electronics games. There are many games that are cloned after either a television series or a movie that is popular. I believe today’s culture has a very great influence on television and movies. With today’s television I believe there is a lot more shown now than there has been in the past. Even with today’s commercials on television I believe there is much more sexuality and violence than there was 10 years ago. There are also more music stars that have evolved into movies and television than I believe there was in the past. With this there is more of an audience for many movies and television shows due to the fact they reach out to a way more broad audience. There are even more cartoons that are aimed at both the younger and older audience. I do believe some of these cartoons are a little risky for the younger audience though. With electronic games I do believe they have had both a negative and positive impact on culture. I do believe children in today’s society play way too many video games. Video games I do believe have made the children of today’s society much lazier than 10 years ago. When my generation was young we did not have all of the technology and we had to make our own fun and that did mean much more exercise than most kids today get and that is not helping the childhood obesity problem in today’s society. Children now do not play outside as much and have basically become couch potatoes in front of their video games. I do believe children now see much more violence also, but each parent needs to make sure that their children take it only as a video game and it does not affect them in a negative way. There is one game that really sticks out to me as a very influential game that came back from the past a few years ago. When Super Mario Bros came out for the WII I believe it was a great thing to show children now what we played in the past rather than all of the war games that are so very popular. I do also believe that the games that make our children get up and play sports and other active games are a great thing for the younger population and adults also. With these games it makes the players get off the couch and actually get exercise and movement instead of sitting in one place playing a game. With each person the games are going to have a different effect and I do believe it is every parents obligation to make sure that they games our children are playing are just known as games and that we as adults watch our children and know exactly what they are playing and what they think of their games. As parent we also need to make sure that our children are doing other things rather than sitting in front of televisions all day and they are getting the exercise they need.
