negotiation process. AT&T and Albertsons both achieved the sought-after outcome they were looking for during their negotiation process, showing that each strategy has its place in the business world. Abstract

Negotiation and Strategy Article Analyses
Albertsons and AT&T have both gone through negotiation processes that achieved the goal they had set forth to obtain. Different strategies were used to reach these goals. Accommodative and collaboration negotiation strategies were used by these companies during the negotiation process. Albertsons used the collaboration strategy and AT&T used the Accommodative strategy.
The subject discussed in the first article is AT&T and T Mobile merger. These companies are in negotiation to have AT&T merge with T Mobile. This Merger will allow AT&T to remain a major force in the telecommunication industry. AT&T merging with T Mobile gives the company a wider coverage range, and a larger customer base.
Accommodative Negotiation strategy is the strategy was used in this merger. This strategy allows AT&T to minimize conflict and maintain a good working relationship with the T Mobile employees and management staff. No resources were divided in this merger because AT& T will take over T Mobile completely. Using accommodative negotiation strategy will keep both companies employees happy because they are open with what will happen within the merging process.
Albertsons was in negotiation to sell off a number of stores to the Cerberus Capital Management Company and Supervalu. This sale would make the disburse Albertsons stores making Albertsons the second largest food retailer behind Kroger. Taking this action was shocking because must companies would want to become larger to take away market share from Walmart but this is not the case with Albertsons. Albertsons view on this was that the stores will be able to adapt to local needs if broken down by regions, keeping the customer’s needs first, which is something Joe Albertsons set as one of his goals when starting Albertsons years ago.
The Collaboration Strategy was employed during this negotiation. This strategy allowed Albertsons sell off portions of the company to Cerberus but keeping Albertsons mission statement and values intact. The needs of both Cerberus and Supervalu were taken in account during the merger by making the effort to find mutually acceptable solutions for all parties concerned. Using this negotiation strategy made this negotiation a successful one.
The merger of AT&T with T Mobile and the negotiation to sell off part Albertsons Supervalu were both successful. The different strategies employed by the negotiators worked well in both cases. The differences in the process is that AT&T was purchasing T Mobile completely to form a stronger and more lucrative company and Albertsons was selling out part of the company to make it assets, to make the company more manageable. Still keeping in line with the vision of Joe Albertson. AT&T was a clear winner in there negotiation. Albertsons negotiation allowed all parties involved to come out on top. Both of the companies are planning on keeping a good working relationship with the companies they are in negotiation with. AT&T reasoning behind this is that they are keeping T Mobile staff after the negotiations. Albertsons Supervalu kept the working relationship open with Albertsons LLC. because they are working toward a common goal and in the grocery retail business companies cross paths regularly.
Whether a person works in retail or in telecommunications, negotiation is a key function management staff has to use when dealing with employees, customers, and other companies. Both the accommodative and collaboration strategies are ones that work well and achieve the result sought after and to ensure a good working relationship with all parties involved. Using these types of strategies in the workplace to keep employees to working to the best of their abilities is a wise choice although it would be on a much smaller scale then those used in these major companies.
Negotiations have many personalities, which dictate the strategies used during the
