INTRODUCTION The objective of this paper is to provide you with a clearer understanding as to why I have decided to pursue an MBA degree after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting two years ago. You will read on some key motivating factors with regards to personal goal, gaining knowledge, career advancement, and rare opportunity to gaining heightened insight into other lifestyles, and most of all to broaden my exposure to the intricacies of decision-making in the business world. This paper will also provide you with information on some other factors that one must consider especially, timing and return on investment when pursuing this multi-worthy degree. “My Decision to Pursue an MBA to Further My Career” In life, I have always tried to maintain a personal credo of “go farther” and let nothing stop me in finding an innovative way to accomplish my goal, and also to realize my full potential in every aspect of my professional career. With this, it gives me the mind that no achievement is greater than self improvement. I have always tried to maintain this personal objective over the years. Obtaining the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree has many benefits and I believe this is the perfect time for me to start this worthy degree program at the University of Phoenix (Charlotte). Having said this, gaining knowledge has been a continue process for me since I started my education journey. When I graduated from high school and started part time work, I started preparation for undergraduate courses at the University of Liberia. Even after completion of undergraduate degree at Strayer University, I have participated in many religious and educational programs in my community. The next most logical step in my career I feel now is starting an MBA program. Looking at current economic and job market in the world, having only an undergraduate degree, I feel is not enough to put me at the level I personally desire in life. This worthy cost that I am pursuing (MBA) now I feel will give me the opportunity to make myself marketable on the job market in meeting and developing report with influential colleagues in my area of specialization or industry. With the MBA degree, I will have the opportunity for increase in salary or wages where ever I work. Another thing this degree will do for me is the experience it will give me personally in fulfilling and enabling me to realize my career goal as a professional business person. I am trying to push myself to the limit in term of career advancements in life. It happened that starting my MBA education and the global changes in our economy coincide together. This has given me the chance to make a possible and sound decision between having a stable, under paid job and preparing myself for the future to have the best and brighter knowledge to establish my own professional business or be paid a higher salary. I believe this is the right time to start something innovative in my country which will give me the opportunity to reach another new career goal. This is why I chose to seek more knowledge with an MBA. Besides that, the current economic situation does not satisfy my ambitions and inspirations; I hate to have a job now that will change my duties and responsibilities and my set vision for the rest of my life. Lets put it this way, I am working but not in what I desired to do in life as I have always promised to be. Some time people do changes in life based on current situation. But a vision person with a set goal will always be focus and make changes but still focus on their goal as I am trying to be. There are some positive changes that I have made and find myself in a place that is good now, but for future progress, I need deeper knowledge, wider business contact and better education. I feel I am clearly convince that MBA degree will offers me all these options plus unique experience to study in specially designed for the business education environment.. For my personal goals, I feel MBA for me is a big dream, which is attainable by selected individual and probably “not in our world”, and because of this, it make this degree so prestigious and complicated. Having said this, I feel the more difficult is my goal for this degree. I can’t imagine that my time would be free more than an hour. I even feel sometime that my motivation to receive solely MBA might become more prevalent than motivation to receive knowledge, experience, contact and opportunities which this degree will bring. Moreover, the great supports from people around me have also given me the motivation to pursue this degree. My wife has always been an encouraging factor for me with her believes that getting an MBA will improve our lives; my coworkers are sure that this degree will create for me an opportunity for promotion on the job; lastly, my relative think that this will make me find new ways for self-realization in life. I regard MBA as a tool that will help me make the right or best changes in our society and economy; in addition, in the business field, this will surely open door for me to upper political positions in government and the private sectors of our economy. I also see that getting an MBA is a rare opportunity which will make me have heightened insight into other lifestyles. Furthermore by obtaining an MBA degree, it will give me the technical knowledge of how to understand management from a macro view, and how to operate a business in today’s corporate environment. By my work experience and interactions with management, it has given me exposure to many aspects of the business world, and a refined definition of how important it is towards one day establishing my own empowering business. Through experience and the understanding of society’s hardships, my MBA will able me to become functional in restructuring person(s) financial status. In the reconstruction, my purpose is to solidify their financial status by helping to make assertive financial decisions, restore credit, providing employment through my business. In addition to the reconstruction of their financial stability, Lastly and after my achievements, the appreciation derived from it will reflect on the predicted future evolution of the business community. The reflection in turn, will give me a major step in preparing for a bright and successful future in the business corporate world. In the beginning it is discussed how my motivation for achievement, and past experiences create a personal fulfillment which enables me to realize career goals. Let me also mention that my passion and invested energy will also contribute to my ability to acquire this degree that is highly regarded here and yea the world. I know timing will play an important role in my ability to study for this degree. As an ambitious person striving in the business world, it has always been my goal, and thought to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). I have come to understand that all is not going to be the title but there will always be interaction with people, making sound financial decision, reporting and interpreting financial data to management in order to make financial decisions. I believe that having an MBA will give me the first hand on the job in working professionally. With this being said, I want to advance my life career with the best possible qualification that I can achieve to be who I want to be in life. I consider MBA degree very essential to such a development. I do know that my set vision for life constantly progress around many things, but the importance of achieving proper education remains constant, making MBA degree a vital priority at this point in my career. This degree to me is too prestigious that I can’t wait to achieve and put into practice.
