Have you ever driven subconsciously and snap out of it, then wonder what just happened' Well it happen to me one day, but when I came back into reality it was too late; because the event that had taken place immediately after traumatized me. When I think about it, procrastination is a bad idea, because the tires I had were almost bald and had no grip so I should have gotten new tires before. I had left my house that day to go to the bank and deposit a check. It happened around noon two minutes from my house, I was by myself, only a few cars were behind me, and I was doing the speed limit. The street I was driving on had an approximately ten foot median that was hill-shaped. I had my seatbelt on with my windows open and the volume of the music in my car was low. The breeze of the wind on my face made me feel relaxed. Before spacing out, the clouds caught me gazing up at them and they put me in a trance. All of a sudden I felt weird and scary, like if my body and brains knew what was about to happen but could not react properly. Then actuality started to kick in but in slow motion and it also felt fast paced. It took me a second to notice that my car was about to go over the curb. So I quickly tried to turn the car away from the curb, but it hit the curb already by that time. When coming back into the street, I started to feel my tires spinning out. I had my head down and my eyes closed praying to God with my foot on the brakes that something worse would not happen. I lifted my head and became aware that I was facing the other direction of oncoming traffic but still moving with the loud screeching of my tires spinning out. With no intentions of stopping, I saw out of the corner of my eye, my car getting closer to the median. Boom! My car started going over the median, tearing up the grass and pouring into my car all over me. Then I felt my as if my car was about to flip over, but luckily it did not. When my car reached the top of the hill and started to go down, I heard something underneath my car come off and my car went over it. Then right at the end of the bottom of the hill I stopped. I was paranoid but, ecstatic that no physical harm was done to me, though I felt bad for my car. The cars that were behind me slowed down and just looked at me and did not even bother to stop to see if I was ok; which was actually ok with me because I was kind of embarrassed about what just happened. So I tried pulling off like nothing happened, but I heard the road and metal scraping against each other. I thought my tires had blown off so I pulled over to the curb. I got out the car and saw that my left tires were ok but when I looked at the right side, both tires had come off the rims and the front of my car was pushed in. I looked at the area I just went over and there was a big piece of debris laying there (I found out the next day that it was half off the thing that protects the engine underneath). So I called my father to come help me because I did not know what to do. When I looked at the road, there was a white truck coming towards me and I realize it was a person that is part of the community’s’ association. He parked behind me and while looking at the grass instead of me, he asked what happen, as if he was more concerned with the grass then me. I told him what happened but he ignored me and continued staring at the grass. Then he goes to his car and calls on his radio for a sheriff to come and leaves. The sheriff shows up a minute after. He asked me what happened and I told him everything. He said ok and asks if I need a tow truck and I said no my dad is on the way. When my dad came he talked with the sheriff about what to do with the car and my dad decided to back the car into the exit of one of the community’s divisions. As the sheriff left, my dad and I took off the tires, took them to an auto shop and got them filled up with air because there were no holes. Then we brought the tires back to my car and put them on and drove home. The next day I got new tires. Nowadays I try hard not to lose focus on the road. In essence, paying attention to the road is very crucial if you do not want to lose money or your life.
