How Malaysia is said to be of different races and different cultures'
Idea of One Malaysian. A mission brought about by the Prime Minister today. Here clearly shows that Malaysia is a multiracial country. The largest amount of people in Malaysia is Malays, Chinese and Indians. Sabah and Sarawak, there are many indigenous ethnic groups, each with a unique culture and heritage and its own.
Today, the Malays are the largest ethnic group in Malaysia that encompasses more than 50 percent of the population. In Malaysia, if referring to the Malays that people practice the religion of Islam and Malay culture, Malay language and Malay descent. Originally they are Theravada Buddhist and Hindu devotee’s century 1400s, and the palace of Malacca when they embrace Islam. The Malays are known for their friendly culture and art that is very rich.
Chinese is the second largest ethnic group, which includes 25 percent ethnic Chinese population. Most Chinese today are descendants of immigrants to come out of the country in the 19th century. Are known, for their diligence and great business senses. Three sub-groups who speak a different dialect is Hokkien Chinese who live in northern, Cantonese living in Kuala Lumpur and Mandarin-speaking group who live in the south of the country in Johor.
Indians comprise 10 percent of the population in Malaysia. Most come from immigrants from South India who speak Tamil, who came to Malaysia during the British colonial past. They come here to seek a better life, outside of the caste system of India practiced. Most of the Hindus, they brought their unique culture and the construction of temples, spicy food and clothing essence of luxury.
Every race in Malaysia still maintains their customs. The importance of customs in life no matter what race, it can not be denied. Custom covers all aspects of starting from birth, marriage, until the death in the life of all communities in Malaysia. Customs is a common way of life practiced by a people who reflect the cultural patterns.
The importance of traditional Malay society clearly visible in the Malay’s proverb which says "Biar mati anak, Jangan mati adat”. Code of conduct in Malay customs influenced by the inherited traditions of Hindu culture which is adjusted in accordance with Islamic elements. This tradition can be seen in three aspects of the customs of births, marriages and deaths.
Chinese has customs or taboos are quite unique. Their lives are influenced by the environment and the environment caused them a lot depends on luck. In many things, projections have a major role as a consultant in matters of birth, marriage and death. Customs are practiced vary according to certain races in the Chinese community, but what is described as follows covers customs of the Chinese community as a whole.
Indian society is the third largest ethnic group in Malaysia and also one of those who have contributed to the formation of a plural society in our country. Like other communities, the Indian community is rich with features of their culture and still maintains the culture up to now. Customs practiced by the Indians are quite similar to Malay culture. This is clearly seen in terms of births and marriages. Like other communities, the Indians of various tribes, so that only displays the following information on Indian customs in general.
Regardless of race and culture in Malaysia, we will maintain unity and harmony among people. Aspects in the life of decency and respect for each other are in the minds and absorb the hearts of Malaysians. This is evidenced in the National Principles of Malaysia is "Courtesy and Morality."
