Laforga Julius Castro Miranda Student Professor A Mother’s Story CHARACTERS Main Character Protagonist Antagonist Pokwang as Medy Beth Tamayo as Helen Supporting Characters Nonie Buencamino as Gerry – Husband Xyriel Manabat as Queenie – Daughter Rayver Cruz as King – Son Beth Tamayo as Helen – Friend of Helen PLOT Medy, a make-up artist, was given the chance of a lifetime to accompany a concert star to the United States for a performance. She promised her family that she will return after a week. However, while in America she stumbled upon a former classmate who convinced her to stay for good in the land of milk and honey. She initially refused, but eventually gave in, when she got a call one night for her husband that they need a big amount of money to bring her youngest daughter to the hospital. America has not been the friendliest to her and out story begins with her coming home to Manila literally with nothing. Medy’s two kids, King and Queenie are now 19 and 7. King struggles with the return of his mother. Animosity, resentment, same, and anger are issues he has build with Medy. For the young Queenie, It’s getting to know Nanay… who she thought would one day come out of a Balikbayan Box. And as for her husband, Medy discovers something she least expected. SETTING Time In Seven years. Place United States of America. CONFLICT Man versus Man Medy was slapped Helen because Helen was reduction of her salaries. Man versus Environment Medy can do anything for her family, she accepted offer of Helen and became an illegal worker in United States of America. Man versus Himself Medy has a double thought. She was thinking if she will accept the offer of her friend and thinking if it is right or wrong. CINEMATOGRAPHY The film is very excellent in cinematography because the angle of camera was taking the good position of the character. PRODUCTION Lighting Characters on a set greatly understanding on a scene, a gesture or facial expression are seeing clearly. Costume Characters on a set greatly reflected of their personalities. Make-up Characters on a set greatly reflected of their personalities. CLIMAX When Medy accept the offer the her former classmate (Helen). She became an illegal worker in United State of America. Helen helps Medy to get a job. One day, Medy notice that her friend Helen trying to lesser the salary that she earn. Ending Medy had no choice at the time but to seek legal advice, and she seeks Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel. He told Medy that she has a strong right to file a case against the family for illegal detention, physical injuries, and hiring someone like her as an undocumented citizen. She continues with the case for the best. When Helen arrives for Medy, Medy expresses her anger for all the trouble she is caused now because of her illegal antics that could have endangered her.
