ANC as political party 1) The ANC as political party exercise conditioned power and personality as source of power, for instance Jacob Zuma has charisma, property as they get lot of money from membership of any political party in South Africa and in other countries. It also includes organisation power which contains all three forms of power. They exercise conditioned power this way they persuade and changes peoples beliefs, they promise their citizens that they will deliver all the needs that the community needs as clean water, houses and even improve infrastructure also create jobs for them to fight against the high rate of unemployment. The ANC does not exercise condign power because they do not threaten people to set vote for them, because if they do that they will not get vote from the citizens. Conditioned power, personality and organisation power are very important in this player because there should be a leader in an organisation that will be capable of addressing a large number of people an be able to persuade them in order to receive more votes that will able them to rule the country Big businesses (Anglo-American and De-Beers) Big business like Anglo-American and De-Beers ultimately rule because they have less condign power than the state it probably have more than civil society. Big business exercise compensatory power and property as source of power. The state depends on taxes in order to improve its infrastructure and other facilities and also to buy militaries and political parties need business support to operate. They exercise compensatory power by giving their workers bonuses or increasing their wages the state relies on business because does not contribute the state will lose its GDP, citizens are been employed by the companies in order to get jobs if the big businesses had limited number of workers surely there would be high rate of unemployment. Political parties such as ANC in order for them to launch manifestos and campaigns it needs more money from the businesses to do that and also pay their bills , if the citizens sees that the party have lot of money they will tend to vote for the party because they believe that it will deliver their needs. Ordinary citizens Ordinary citizens exercise condign power because they cannot exercise compensatory power because they are not wealthy as big businesses or conditioned power because they do not have power to persuade people, personality is a source of power in this player. Ordinary citizens do not have power to make laws so they vote for a party that will represent them in the parliament. Ordinary citizens exercise condign power in this way, they protest against the government by destroying anything that belongs to the government if the government did not deliver his promises. In the modern days personality power is associated with conditioned power but the citizen’s needs a leader that will stands for them. 2) Big businesses 3) Big businesses are powerful because firstly if you compare big businesses and political parties, contribution of businesses to ANC it is very significant because it helps the party to grow. The party will have more followers because they will see that the party have lot of money and they will think that it will deliver their basic needs, but if businesses are not contributing to the party surly the party will sink because it will not have enough money to launch campaigns so people will tend to vote for other parties and it will lose votes and it will be less recognised. When it comes to ordinary citizens ,people are been employed by businesses to get jobs and that will result in less rate of unemployment in our country but if there are few people employed there will be more people starving and unemployment will increase drastically. The businesses have more power because if there were no businesses in our country this country would have been poor, our economy would low. Businesses hire people but if they want to fire a certain person they will because they are powerful. Everything depends on the businesses because the ANC and our country get money from businesses. 4) What shows that businesses rule in South Africa is that it produce high GDP in South Africa for example in 2009 it brought about 241.3 billions rands and it also classified as a largest export sector in South Africa. The state receives the taxes from both companies and then can be able to improve the lives of South Africans. Business do employ large number of people as you know that there are many people that work in mines, many people just go there to look for a job because they know that there are many fields that they can work on. Political parties rely on businesses the rallies, manifestos and campaigns requires a lot of money so political parties have to borrow money because they do not have that kind of money. Julius Malema demands 60% from Anglo-America which shows that the ANC do not have enough money they try to robe Anglo-American because it got lot of money.
