Mexican American
The Mexican Americans have been living in the Americas for many years. Immigrants have been in the United States since the Mexican American war in 1847. After the treaty of Guadalupe was signed Mexican immigrants were brought to the U.S to be used to build railroads at cheap cost. In the year 1910 they have been 50,000 Mexican American workers in the United States that has been looking for jobs every year. They only use them as long as they need them. The Mexican American escapes or they leave Mexico for a lot reasons. The reasons why Mexican American leave México is because they may be at war, their may not be any jobs for them to support their families, and the government may be harsh at some times to Mexicans. The Mexican Americans may want a better life for themselves and for their family. The Mexican American has been coming to America in a long term. That makes them assimilation experience different from other ethnic and also from other national groups.
Their have been Mexican Americans that were born in the United States and they are not considered United States Citizens. In 1929 the United States government deported undocumented immigrants. Of the 2 million people that were deported to Mexico 1.2 million had been born in the U.S and should been citizen. When the United States found itself in WWII in 1942. Official agree to the Bracero program, which would allow quest workers to work in the United States without any labor protections pushed to United States workers. So the program was maintained until 1964.
Recent data shows that 226,000 people emigrated from Mexico to other countries during the last few years. Since my family has remained in the United States, our population of illegal immigrants has stop growing in the last few years in the United States. We are trying to hold on to our jobs in the United States. We work has hard as we can, that way we can send money to our families in Mexico. That way we can give them an opportunity to come to the United States. Researchers’ say that a drop in illegal immigrates proves that more law enforcement in our borders and in the workplaces can reduce immigration. My people had not stop wanted to come to the land of the free because of small arguments that our government have been having. Life in the United States is a dream for many Mexicans. Poverty is a big issue in Mexico that’s why many of my family members tend to hire smuggler to get them across to the United States border. I have lost many family members in smuggling attempts due to harsh punishment in the Mexican government.
Our Religion is the Roman Catholicism. My family members worship our lady of Guadalupe. When our family tend to go far we carry a little image of our lady of Guadalupe that way she will watch over us where ever we go. My family celebrates independence from Spain in September 16. They have celebrated independence sin September 16, 1810. We celebrate Cinco de Mayo it means May 5th. Cinco de Mayo it has been celebrated throughout the Unite States every May. We also celebrate Los Dias de Los Muertos it means the day of the dead. My families celebrate Los Dias de Los Muertos on November 1st and the 2nd of the month. We celebrate it to honor our family that has past away and also our ancestors. The reason way their is two days is because the first of November is when the spirits of the children return to our lands and the second is for the adult. We tend to build altars for the love ones that we have lost in the pass years. We show respect to the dead on those days. In those altars my family member up food, candy, candles to give the dead light, and there is many more that we do to the altars. There are too many things that we celebrate as a Mexican. We are in to our religion and we make sure that we worship our lady of Guadalupe and show her respect.
