Methods of Crucifixion Crucifixion is the death or execution of a person that is nailed to a cross; there are many different types of wood styles of cross people can choose from. Romans and Greeks used different cross positions or a tree trunk or sometimes a small post. The way that a person was tied or nailed to the cross were hands above your head then nailed or tied and feet tied or nailed around the cross. IN the old testament when someone was crucified it was for the slaves, peasants and only the worst kinds of criminals. There were three major types of cross that people were crucified on. There was a single upright standing pole in which the person being crucified was either tied or he or she was impaled on the pole. The second way is the T shaped cross with two beams, this type of cross is thought to be the type of cross that Jesus was crucified on. The third type is an X shaped cross also with two beams. Usually before the convicted man or woman was whipped with a leather whip and then was forced to carry their cross all the way to where the person will be crucified. In Jesus’ case because he was the King of the Jews they mooched him by putting a crown of thorns on his head. The ay the person was fastened to the cross was nails driven through the palms of their hand and in their feet. Some Archeologists found evidence of a victim of crucifixion and they found that the nails were driven through here heels which means that the person being crucified there legs had to be contorted so the nail would line up with their heels. The crucifixions were public which means that family and friends plus other strangers that were allowed to provoke and to humiliate the person that is being crucified. After the person has died on the cross they would either lower them to the ground then burry them r they wou7ld leave the person up on the cross as a lesson to others.
