Time Management
All people should master the skill of time management. This effective skill is essential to the well-being of humans and their daily activities. Effective time management is useful in anything from planning daily schedules to planning short and long-term goals. Time management is the ability to multi-task effectively, productively, and efficiently in a set amount of time. Effective time management consists of formulating a plan, and putting it into effect, in order to achieve productiveness.
In order to gain the substantive skill of time management people must have an understanding and focus on personal values. Important tasks that have deadlines must be put high on a priorities list. They need to break down how their current time is being spent. People must determine what in their daily activities is a waste of time. People need to ask themselves throughout the day , is what I am doing right now go to get me closer to accomplishing my goals' Time saving techniques must be obtained. A time management plan must be developed and executed daily. A daily To Do list should contain a list of tasks ranging from the most important at the top to least important at the bottom.
Lack of time management is one major reason that people spend his or her time ineffectively. People need to discover what it is that motivates them. If a brisk walk in the evening is what motivates a person then that person needs to make a To Do list, and put at the top of the list the task that least motivates them, accomplish it, then reward themselves with that brisk walk in the evening. Sometimes people need to get the tasks that they avoid the most and accomplish them first, so that they can look forward to do what they want to do the rest of the day.
People tend to procrastinate when a large task or project is set before them because they tend to see the project in its whole when this occurs motivation suddenly disappears. Projects must be planned and broken down into small tasks and projects, so it will not appear so overwhelming. With lack of motivation, and procrastination, comes stress. People tend to stress and worry about uncompleted tasks and deadlines. Much of stress comes from poor use of time management. Poor time management causes confusion, the inability to concentrate and it hinders the ability to perform even the simplest tasks. Most people are knowledgeable to the fact that stress can cause serious health related issues.
Time management is especially important in the workplace. Employers want a person to have effective time management skills. This makes the employees more valuable to the company because they are able to save time and work productively. To employers, saving time and being productive means, saving money and making profits. This is especially true for managers, not only are they dealing with their own time and productiveness but, they are also dealing with the time and productivity of others. A manager cannot manage, with out this skill.
Poor time management not only effects the person who lacks the skill, but also that persons family. The effects of poor time management tend to get worst when they hit home, people feel so overwhelmed with issues at work, they tend to express their frustrations to their loved ones at home. This can truly ruin relationships at home and, have a worst effect on children who are not of age to comprehend frustrations expressed by adults.
Signs of poor time management are feeling stressed, angry, the inability to do things that he or she want to do throughout the day because of lack of time. More signs are frustration, the in- ability to perform simple tasks. Staying busy all day long with daily activity but not accomplishing any goals or priorities. Blaming others for issues that could have been prevented. Another important sign is deteriorating relationships at home. People need to act fast at the first sign of stress. They need to learn how to manage their time effectively and productively. People should become knowledgeable as soon as possible, before they become victims of poor time management.
In conclusion a person who learns to manage his or her time effectively will be more productive at work, at home, and in everyday life. People will find that they are highly appreciated by their bosses, and will find more time for families at home. They will feel an all around sense of well-being.
