Management Behavior Memo
InterClean provides the sanitations products to customers. The purpose of writing this memo is to address the importance of a manager’s behavior that involves the merger of InterClean with EnviroTech. The transformation will strengthen the company. Our top priority is to provide the highest level of service to customers. I will provide effective methods that will help the organization increase revenue, enhance performance, and other factors. This memo will discuss how a manager’s behavior could affect productivity, the types of management actions that align with employment laws, and the best practices for working in the diverse work environment.
Our main goal is to ensure that we could increase productivity. “When you discipline yourself to do what is hard; you could access to realm of result that denied everyone else” (Pavlina, 2005, p. 3). As a midlevel sales manager, my recommendation in the hope of increasing productivity is to find effectives solutions. I expect you to behavior appropriately when it comes down to dealing with your employees. Inappropriate behavior that any manager presents in the workplace could affect sales revenue. Through motivating your employees, productivity will increase as well as affect the organization. Motivating your employees require acknowledging what motivate them. For instance, some employees may be motivating with salaries raises comparable to others; some employees may be motivating by extended their hours of works, and more. Your obligation must be to create open communication channels with your employees. “The best people in any field are those who devote the most hours to what the researchers call deliberate practice. It's activity that's explicitly intended to improve performance, that reaches for objectives just beyond one's level of competence, provides feedback on results and involves high levels of repetition” (Colvin, 2005, p. 3). Communication is a valuable tool that allows us to have the opportunity to obtain employees’ feedback base on different topics. Through communication, we will have the opportunity to identify the areas employees may be struggling with in terms of their duties. Our roles as managers are to create a sense of empowerment with our employees through positive feedback and communication. “An idea is a conception formed by effort. Businesses thrive on new ideas, and very often their success relies on new conceptions or plans developed by employees of the company. Therefore, managers must be aware of ways to encourage the production of ideas in the workplace. However, idea generation is not enough. Ideas must also communicate to others in order to be beneficial to any business” (Rhodes, 2004, p. 1)
In the work environment, we must follow the employment laws. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is created to ensure employees, employees agencies, and labor organizations comply with the Title VII of Civil Rights Act. “Even with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and Affirmative Action programs are use to guide them, workplace discrimination exists. Occasionally, it is deliberate; these are generally the cases, which make the evening news. More often, it is the unintended result of practices, which don't seem the least bit discriminatory on the outside” (Payk, 1999, p. 1) During the hiring process, make good judgment on a person and don’t make judgment base on his or her race, sex, and other factors. If an employee have done the same qualities of work as others workers, put the same amount of efforts, and have the same responsibility, make sure the employee is pay the same amount as other workers. If you factor in on promoting discrimination in the workplace, this unethical activity could affect the company’s earning as well as the organization will face litigation. Your obligation is to ensure sexual harassment is not permitted in the workplace. If there a situation that involve sexual harassment, take the right approach into resolving the dispute. In any given situation such the interview process or the hiring process, I require your decision is not factor on his or her gender. Sex discrimination is a violation this is prohibit in the workplace. There will be a meeting in the near future and you must attend. During the meeting, I will discuss about the employment laws, environmental regulations, and other factors, I am very aware that this meeting will be helpful.
As first level sales managers, you will play a significant role when the merger of InterClean with EnviroTech takes place. I require you to discuss with existing employees as well as new recruits the company’s regulation. Your obligation is to develop multifunctional teams once the merger of InterClean with Enviro Tech takes place. “Selecting and retaining great staff is the key for business success. There are talented people who continue to develop skills and increase their value to your organization and to your customers is your most important resource. Here's how to select and retain these people and create an environment in which they continue to thrive” (Healthfield, 2006, p. 1). Training must be providing for new recruits to ensure they perform effectively once the merger takes place. I believe this is the best practice when it comes down into working in the diverse work environment. Before proceeding into training new recruit, there should be outlines involving the training process, employment laws, and other factors in place. These outlines should contain strategies that will benefit the organization. This is also the best practice when it comes down into working in the diverse work environment. Discuss with new recruits the company’s requirement involving training. Most important, I encourage you to discuss with new recruits the environmental regulations, OSHA standards, and the sanitation regulations that involve with the industry. If an employee experience difficulty with an assignment during training, I encourage that you help him of her in any way or provides him or her with an existing employee just for recommendation purpose.
We have to create a positive work environment once the merger takes place. Possessing open channel communications with your employees could benefit the company in many ways. Employment laws were set to ensure company, employers, and employees do not violated any regulations involving the employment laws.Your behavior will greatly put an impact on the organization, so therefore I highly encourage you to ensure discrimination is not prohibited in the workplace. I hope the information that I provided will benefit from the organization once InterClean merge with EnviroTech.
