Major Grains and Animal Products This paper will talk about why grains and animal products are a commodity. There are so many people on this planet and the people and business that are growing the meet that goes into the store have to change the ways they grow the meet to keep up with the demand of people wanting to buy the meet. In the upcoming years the people and business that are growing meet will have to learn how to grow the meet in different ways to meet the needs of the people. The article that I looked over talked about going international to meet the needs of the people. They are trying to see what it will take to keep the prices down on the meet. “Meet production has increased from around 120 million tons to more than 270 million tons in 2010. These changes have been driven by demand-side factors and supply-side determinants” (Guyomard, Manceron, & Peyraud, 2013). With the growth of the world this is causing prices to go up because there is such a demand on the grains and animal products. The farmers need the grains to feed the animals so there can be meat in the market stores. There is becoming less and less land because there are more people on the earth than there was 60 years ago. There are new ways that the people that deal with the livestock are finding new ways to grow the livestock to keep up with the demand that is needed. With people eating out all the time there is a lot of meet that is being made every day that is made and at the end of the day the business has to through the product a way. Here is some of the waist that could help cut down on how much livestock that needs to be grown every year. There are the developing countries that are depending on other countries to meet the livestock requirements of their country. So there are countries right now that are depending on other countries to supply the needs of their country. Then there is the growth of the United States that is having a hard time keeping up with what people need. When the price of meet goes up people will slow down on what they buy. People only make so much money a month and they have to do so much with the money they bring in. So a person will supplement other things for meet so they can feed their families. This is where supply and demand comes in. If there is too much meet then the price of meet will go down. If there is not enough meet then the price will go up so people will buy less of the product. The supply of meet will change if the weather is bad that year. A couple of years ago the summer was so hot and the county did not get any rain that year so it was hard to feed the cows that year. The weather had a major effect on the beef that was grown. With this in mind it made the price of meet go up that year. The demand for beef is high because there are more people to feed in this world and most of the people eat meet. With this in mind that means that there needs to be more cattail each year to meet the demand of the want of meet. Beef is elastic according to Elasticity of Demand. “The change in price results in a large change in quantity demanded” (Elasticity of Demand, 2007). So if the meet prices go up this will cause people to buy less meet. If the price goes down, this will get people to buy more meet. If people had to buy the whole beef, process the beef, and then freeze the whole beef this might be inelastic because there are not as many people out there that are will to go that extra mile to get meet.
