Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin was a blues inspired rock band created in 1968. Jimmy Page recruited members for a new band, after the breakup of his former band, The Yardbirds. At first the new band was named The New Yardbirds, but after a sarcastic joke by Keith Moon, they changed their name to Led Zeppelin. The members of the band consisted of Jimmy Page, on guitar, Robert Plant, vocals, John Paul Jones, on bass guitar, and John Bonham on drums. Led Zeppelin, often just revered to as Zeppelin, released their first album only a year after being formed. The album was very popular, and was ranked as number 29 out of 500 of the worlds greatest albums. Led Zeppelin was very popular in the 70's, and released another seven albums in this period. They toured all over the world, and lived life hard. Bonham struggled with alcohol addiction, and in late September 1980, he was found dead by Zeppelin's tour manager and John Paul Jones. The band disbanded after this tragic event, and didn't reunite again until 2007. The three surviving members, together with Bonham's son, Jason, did a one-night-show in the O2 stadium in London. Led Zeppelin's most famous songs today are Stairway to Heaven, The Immigrant Song and Whole Lotta Love. I listen to a lot of Zeppelin's music, but my favourites are Ten Years Gone and Going to California. The band has sold over 200 million albums worldwide, and is still today remembered as one of the worlds greatest bands ever.
