Learning a New Language There is no doubt that learning a new language is one of the goals and priorities people aspire to, and it is a fact that achieving so is not easy. The difficulty of this matter varies from person to person. This variation depends on the motives and means which each individual intends to use throughout his or her learning journey. The motives that drive a person into learning a new language carry a great deal of importance within. For example, people who learn a new language for travelling and tourism, or just for the love of it, would probably have more capacity to absorb and remember what they have learned over people who are being forced by other people, or the educational system into learning. Motives are not the only important element in learning a new language; the methods used in achieving such objective matter as well. Even if the person has a very strong motive, it won’t improve him or her without a proper method of learning. A good way of learning, may even be the best, is to socialize with the native speakers of the language they desire to learn. Travelling, studying abroad or scholarships, each of these methods would assist them in their quest. Living in a foreign country will force them to talk, read and write using the primary language of this country. Another commonly used method is interacting with foreigners through the internet. The internet offers many opportunities developing and enhancing people’s skills in foreign languages. For instance, a pen pal could greatly affect a person’s level in a new language. Exchanging letters between pen pals would help them practice their writing and reading, and at the same time gain knowledge about other countries and cultures. Learning a foreign language could be hard, or fun. People’s passion towards a certain language could mean the difference between accomplishing their goals or not, thus; they should pick a language they are passionate about.
