Civil disobedience played a major role in the Civil Rights Movement. Leaders such as Martin Luther King organized civil and peaceful acts to demonstrate the disapproval of how blacks were being segregated and treated by whites. Civil Disobedience was well thought out and required extensive planning to work. It worked well because there is strength in numbers. An example would be the bus boycott that eventually ended segregated seating. The use of Civil Disobedience proved to the nation that change can happen without violence.
