Essay: The telephone rang and then… Lake Placid: One missed call… It’s a bright sunny day, on the 13th February 2008. A group of teenagers are on their way to a resort called Lake Placid. They are going to stay there for 3 weeks. They will be leaving California at 8:00am, they will probably reach there at about 1:00pm. It will be quiet a long drive but they will make a lot of stops… They are traveling for about 3 hours now, and its time to make another stop. They decide to stop at the nearest garage. It’s a bit chilly but the atmosphere is lovely. Alicia, Darshna, Shazia, Pearl, and Luvornia go and freshen up in the ladies, whilst Kavir, Justin, Jose’, Chris, and Jonathan go to the men’s to freshen up as well. After they were done they wanted to eat, they all decided to dine at the famous Wimpy Restaurant. They were done in about half an hour, so they immediately started traveling again. They are now finally one and a half hours away from the resort. In the 1st car, Jonathan is driving and Luvornia is sitting in the front seat. Pearl and Chris are sitting in the back seat, all in love… In the 2nd car Kavir is driving and Alicia is sitting in the front seat. Darshna and Justin are having an engrossed conversation in the back seat, whilst in the 3rd car, Shazia and Jose’ have the car to themselves. They finally reach their destination! They are impressed with the resort and can’t wait to tour the inside of this marvelous, huge penthouse. They cannot wait to settle down and relax. The boys kindly take the luggage inside. The penthouse is spacious and the girls are overwhelmed with their rooms. They pack their clothes away into the wardrobes and go and freshen up. Afterwards, they go downstairs to the boys. The boys find good signal and quickly switch on the television. They make themselves at home and check out the rest of the house. They suddenly hear thumping footsteps, “Oh it’s the girls”, says Justin. The girls make their way to the lounge area. Meanwhile… Shazia decides to take a walk outside to check the place out. It was about 4:20pm, and it was getting chilly. She loved the outside world and simply adored this atmosphere. Shazia got too carried away, as she drifted to far away from the penthouse. She turned around and started to walk back. She had this creepy feeling that someone was following her, she turned back to see if anyone was there, but luckily there was nobody. She carried on walking. Shazia was almost at the house, then she suddenly felt a cold shiver travel through her spine, she turned around again but once again nobody was there, she felt this to be quiet strange, it was as if someone were stalking her. Anyway she finally reached the house and made her way into the patio area and into the house. She was gone for close to an hour. Meanwhile in the house, everyone was lounging around and chatting. As soon as she walked through the door and entered the lounge, silence filled the room and everyone stared at Shazia. They asked her where she had disappeared to and why she took so long. She said, ”Don’t worry I’m fine, I just took a long stroll to experience the nature atmosphere of this resort”. Moments later Shazia discussed her frightening dilemma to her friends , they are now terrified. Night finally arrived, exhausted they all went to bed. Luvornia heard strange sounds creeping up from outside, she ran to Jonathan’s room and told him what she had heard, she was drenched in sweat. He comforted her and eventually put her to bed. In the morning, when he had awoken, he had rushed into her room and found her soaked in blood, he was extremely devastated and fell to the ground. He couldn’t come to terms with the fact that she was gone. He ran and told the others what had happened to Luvornia. The others were furious and decided to go out and find the stalker who had murdered Luvornia. On their quest they arrive at “Lake Placid”. Jonathan, Pearl, Chris, and Kavir decided to take a break from the quest and go for a quick dip. Alicia heard a voice that distinctly sounded like Pearl’s. The remaining of them rushed down to the lake with absolute fear and discovered their four friend’s bodies floating in the water with tons of blood. They were all terribly distraught to see the sight of their friends in that horrific condition. Alicia suggested that the three girls go back to the penthouse and try to ease their minds of after all these horrifying deaths of their loved ones, while the two boys go and get some serious help. Meanwhile, on the girls journey back to the penthouse, Shazia realizes that her cell phone is with Jose’. So they quickly hurry back to fetch it, but when they reach there, they see Jose’ on the ground with an axe through his neck and Justin with another axe through his chest.
