Will internet kill printed books' As one of the most important breakthroughs in the 20th century, internet has facilitated our life to such a great extent that it has become indispensable to our daily life, which manifests itself in the growing number people owning personal computers. There is no doubt that we can benefit a lot from the internet. Because of its wide spread and popularization, discussion about whether the internet will eventually kill traditional printed books has arisen. As far as I’m concerned, since the internet has incomparable advantages, it can be a very convenient substitute for printed books, and we have good reasons to believe that the latter will be displaced by the former. Internet can satisfy some unique functions that printed books can’t perform. To begin with, Information is the biggest advantage internet is offering. There is a huge amount of information available on the internet about every subject known to man, ranging from government law and services, trade and business, science and technology, culture and customs, the list is end less. When we encounter problems, as long as we type some key words, whatever we search for, there will be satisfying answers on it. In contrast, printed books are lengthy and mixed. It is difficult for us to select the relevant books and sections to solve puzzles. Some books may even out of reach. What’s more, on the internet people around the world can share the same information, discuss with each other and put forward own ideas, which makes the answer more various and objective, yet printed books are too subjective. That is information which can be obtained from books is also available on the internet while not all the contents of the internet are printed in books. Besides, we can download materials and data on the internet without charge. Nevertheless, there are no free books at all. For most people, it is a wiser choice to read online rather than buying them, and some versions of the books are too expensive to afford. We may lose a book, but information on the internet is long-lasting. In conclusion, in this modern world of fast pace, internet has become the most popular medium and it will remain so. We should take full advantage of it. Compared to printed books, it emancipates us from complex and saves our time and energy. Equip with it, and we will find ourselves blessed with a more convenient and colorful life.
