Section Three: Integrating Instructional Technology
Integrating instructional Technology is essential to many schools in the United States and across the world. Introducing technology in our present day has many advantages in educating students to be more productive and create a positive outlook in learning. When teaching was manual labor and boring because of the inconsistency in styles of teaching instructional was difficult in maintaining a curriculum for all students. Students who had moderate disabilities learning was a challenge and those students who had no disability was not at their peak with others students in their age group in the classroom. Explain how technology can be used to enhance instruction and facilitate learning'
Technology is used to facilitate teaching by computerized study guide, tutorials, and using effective teaching methods in maintaining structure. Teachers should teach students with clarity, enthusiasm, and repeated information to help students retain the material when using technology. Using the right material require when applying structural learning for both students and teachers, which consist of desktop , disks, and computer that contains software templates of lessons. The software most has educational concepts to learn. There are many websites available for grade level kindergarteners thru third grade; such websites include Starfall.com an interactive phonics program. This website teaches students the pronunciations of letters in the alphabet and their sounds. Site words are plentiful used in sentences and story books; also the program provides math comprehension from numbers one to hundred. Technology facilitates critical thinking in problem solving to expanded students understanding and motivation for learning. Since students have different styles in learning using these methods in technology allows students access to more information and resources. Multimedia tools are educational and entertaining where learners able to applied their knowledge and skills.
Describe assistive technology resources available for the classroom.
Assistive technology resources available for those with physical impairment these devices can be monitors, keyboard, mouse, software and the hardware of the computer. Assist technology increases the level of proficiency in learning. Accessibility features are sticky keys, cursor at a low pace for students. Screen software, auditory access, and text to speech software that reads out loud for the students. Screen software for the visual impaired and auditory software for those who death and have difficulty hearing these are a few assist technology equipment used. There are many devices used to increase the level of proficiency and participation in learning in the classroom.
Describe the types of computer hardware available for K-12 use'
Some types of computer hardware are hand held devices that allows students to use their hands to computerized information and during research. Computers storage devices use to storage information in computers. The personal computer available for students from kindergarteners to 12th grade uses the computer at home. Students have access to digital camera and scientific monitoring devices normally probes and sensors use in science classrooms.
Compare and contrast wired and wireless classrooms.
The usages of laptops in the classroom are becoming more accessible in the classroom opposed to wired technology in the classroom. When projectors, smart boards, iPods, iPad and others wireless devices use in the classroom wired technology are becoming more obsolete. Teachers have incorporated wireless devices in their integrated classroom lesson planning. Teachers are no longer using the caulk and blackboards new technology in presenting collaborative presentations using whiteboard for classroom interaction.
Indentify the pros and cons of using technology in the classroom to facilitate instructions.
School districts across the United States increase the usage of technology within the teacher’s curriculum by implementing E-reader. E-reader allows the administration to cut cost of textbooks at the same time it reduces students carried books home each night. The disadvantage about this product when the products being fixed the student will not have textbook online to continue the assignment. Also, another type of technology becoming popular within the schools is video conference. This works
Conclusion
Technology in the classrooms has proven to be useful and beneficial in many
cases. Technology has many usages for students with difference types of learning styles there are something for every level from k thru 12. Students have achieved to new heights though the help of technology. Technology has increased students motivation, participation, and self-confidence in the classroom upon the regular population of students and special needs students. No doubt technology will always be an access used in preparations for teachers planning.
