Information Systems and Software Applications
Today’s organization depends on the functioning method of technology known as the use of computers and its informational systems. The past implementation of information systems was to improve the efficiency manner within the functions of a business. Currently it is a vital tool used to assist in obtaining competitive advantage within the organization.
The informational system consists of hardware, software, and communications. This platform supports processing and managing of gathered information of all departments within the organization. Data accuracy and consistency is important to the current status and external influences (economy, government policy and technology advance) within the business.
Within the organization the following departments human resources, Finance and the Executive Management staff works in a collaborative manner as each department reviews the data, as a process in assisting with the decision making process of the daily business operation.
Human Resources data has high value to the organization. The data collected and reviewed consist of recruiting, hiring procedures, employees’ data, implementation and editing of regulations, guidelines, code of conduct, and ethics. In addition employees receive organizational information in an efficient and faster method. The summarized foundation of human resources is employer regulatory compliance, planning, and accessibility of employee information. The human resources department primary function is providing the analysis of data, identifying and responding to organization’s need, revision and implementation of new policies, programs, and systems to management with an in-depth of resources to aid with decision-making and structuring under changing conditions.
The finance department data is salaries, benefits, legal cost, production cost, expenses and other miscellaneous financial debits to the organization. The finance department provides financial reports, statistics, purchasing, and selling activities of the organizations performance contributing to internal and external decision making and financial reporting. In addition a vital function is providing an analysis of performance tracking, resources, tracking cost associated with production of goods and performance of allocated services.
The executive management staff reviews all processed data and implements the state of the business written operational proposal that involves staffing versus productivity equal to the allocated budget for organizational performance. The vital use of the information is with the strategic business planning; the data is analyzed and the results contribute with moving current performance to the forecasting the organization’s future business targets.
The informational system shared by all departments operates in common phases at various levels. The common phases consist of primary and support activities, strategies for competitive advantages, and the performance of traditional functions.
The ultimate relationship of the shared information aids with the anticipation of change and devise appropriate courses of action within the organization’s daily operational activities within the current forum in addition to the future management tactical decisions regarding the strategic direction of the business.
