There are multiple varied types of infectious diseases. Most are curable and others are still unsuccessfully untreatable. There is no remedy for these aliments even after all the research that has been completed over the centuries. These untreatable illnesses that will be discussed are AIDS and HIV. Both of the diseases listed are regarded to be the top 2 deadliest diseases.
Acquiring HIV does not imply the individual possesses the AIDS virus; it means they have the virus that induces AIDS. Nonetheless, if an individual attracts AIDS they additionally acquire HIV. This is because HIV is the virus that induces AIDS to take place. According to Aids.gov, “CDC estimates that more than one million people are living with HIV in the U.S. One in five (20%) of those people living with HIV is unaware of their infection” (2012).
HIV and AIDS are not identical diseases. The HIV and AIDS acronyms mean Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. HIV can be acquired on contact and can develop into the AIDS virus though it may take a period of time. This period can vary from a couple of months to years.
On the other hand, if HIV is ascertained early and medical care is organized; it is likely for an individual to sustain with the HIV virus for years. AIDS is the process where the HIV virus sets in and begins ambushing the immune system. This disease’s attack is much more extensive than HIV. It tears down the required cells that ensure the body’s health and then AIDS anchors in.
It too can be caught on contact and may also take some time to develop. However, there are prescriptions that can be administered to increase the immune system and help battle against the virus to counteract the onset of AIDS. This virus is distributed through the physical transportation of body fluids as well as transportation of this virus can vary in form. The transportation of body fluids appears intricate; however, it can happen with the simplest acts like kissing.
Other body fluids involve the transportation of seminal fluids, breast milk, blood, and saliva. It was once thought that only gay and lesbian individuals could attract this disease. Nonetheless, this thought was immediately discovered to be nothing but a tale. After years of research it is perceived that everyone is subject to this virus.
Many people took the disposition that only those of a questionable make up would acquire this disease by their untamed lifestyles. For example those that dealt in activities such as drug and sex with multiple partners. This statement is not accurate; in fact females that are expecting can transmit this disease to their baby. In addition, injured patients that need blood transfusions and health care professionals are both greatly subject to acquiring this disease.
This disease mainly raids the immune system. When this occurs the immune system is straining double and triple time to control producing contender cells that attempt to battle against the disease. The disease continuously fights the body and ultimately the body will become helpless against producing adequate cells to knock out infections. The virus invades the CD4 and T-Helper cells. These are the cells that labor to keep the immune system up and functioning.
The whole time the anatomy’s immune system is laboring overtime to establish countless cells the virus is battling against and multiplying at the same time. This process becomes an exhausting battle internally. Ultimately, the body becomes inadequate towards distinguishing between the virus and its own cells. At this point, it begins to kill off the cells that the body is laboring so intensely to produce.
When this takes place the body will become more receptive to numerous infections and diseases. This whole formation is what takes place when the HIV virus is transferred into AIDS. There are medications that can fight off the AIDS virus; however, there is no cure for either AIDS or HIV. One medication that was not invented to cure the disease but to hold it under control is antiretroviral medications.
These medications have been adequate to fight off the onrush of AIDS. After many decades of research there is still no cure. However, with the assistance of these medications patients are capable to sustain the disease. There are steps for individuals to safeguard themselves from this disease that is annihilating oodles of people. The Aids.gov site states “1.7 million people in the U.S. are estimated to have been infected with HIV, including over 619,000 who have already died and approximately 1.2 million (1,178,350) adults and adolescents who were living with HIV infection at the end of 2008, the most recent year for which national prevalence estimates are available” (2012).
If employed in a health care atmosphere make certain to take every preventative measure when handling patients. Treat each patient as if they are already infected; for example, use the protective gear that is accessible to the professional. Use a face shield, gloves and goggles when working with body fluids. Be tentative when working with needles, so that the professional does not poke themselves with the needle after poking the patient.
For professionals working a part from the medical industry do not have unprotected sex, sex with multiple sex partners, and more importantly shared needles and IV drugs. These are the top leading causes of these diseases expanding. Every year have lab work of the blood completed to guarantee if the disease is displayed it is caught promptly. If at present time infected take the discretion necessary to keep this disease from descend to other innocent individuals.
