"I haven't bitten you for days" said the distant voice, that was when my nightmare began…except it wasn't a mental picture or hallucination like normal, this nightmare was real. I rose up slowly from the floor, it was hard and I could feel the nail heads digging into my back I had no idea where I was, random, horrible thoughts sprung into my mind. Who or maybe even what was this person or thing with this peculiar voice' And what was it that they wanted from me'
I was now sat upright, a candle giving out a very faint glow was placed on the floor beside my supposed bed, picking it up I carefully held it hoping it would help me figure out where exactly I was, but it didn't. I had no idea. Something about this place was very abnormal, it gave off a forewarning feeling. The room was surprisingly very big and unembellished there was a old, oak cupboard placed about four metres from me and not far from it was a bedside cabinet type of desk with a jar of something in it which was glowing a strange colour. I was eager to know what this strange object was that was in the jar but at the same time I was scared, as intriguing as this place may be I also knew I was in danger.
Shivers were sent rushing up my spine not only because of how petrified I was but because of the icy breeze that swept around me which I realised was coming from an open window. I nervously glanced around again, but as I took another look at the mysterious jar I heard again this voice in a more wicked, sharp tone say "Oh it's so tempting…I really want to take another bite of you". Then shortly after I heard the scream of a woman. It sounded like this cry for help was coming from the room next-door to the one I was in. I felt an urgent need to try to help this poor lady, I slowly crept towards the door still using the candle as a guide and shielding it from the breeze, worried that I may be heard I tip toed ever so slowly. The door was shut, it was a big solid, timber door with heavy wrought iron latches on it. As quietly and secretly as possible I placed my hand on the door knob and slowly I began to turn it, I could feel my right hand trembling as it touched the handle, eventually I managed to open the door, it was a lot heavier than expected and every time I seemed to pull the door closer towards me even the slightest creek sounded so loud.
I peered out the door, made sure nobody was there and took a few brave steps to search for this woman that seemed to be in distress. Still holding the candle I silently moved stealthily along the corridor, paranoid of 233tttttttttttthe thought of getting caught. As I continued to creep through the landing I observed all the weird paintings that were hung on the walls, they all seemed to be portraits of disturbed looking women, as I looked closer I noticed on each one there was a distinct mark on their necks. But what this mark was I didn't know.
Confused and concerned I continued to creep through the corridor, then to my horror as I reached an open door there she was lying on the floor, eyes wide open, fresh blood trickling from her neck down to her chest. She wore a red coloured robe, from what I could tell with the little aid of light I had and her hands were placed perfectly against her heart. Knowing this woman was definitely not breathing I walked a little closer to this beautiful disaster still steadily holding the candle in my hand I knelt onto one knee and lent the candle nearer to her neck, this was no ordinary mark, it looked like some kind of animal had bitten her…
Suddenly to my horror I heard another scream, yet this time it seemed closer. I quickly stood up, nearly dropping my candle whilst doing so. I didn't know what to do, was this the same lady that I heard earlier' Or was this another poor, innocent victim' As much as I felt the need to try to help her, I knew I was hopeless and it was probably too late… Terrible thoughts of what was going to happen to me and emotions were rushing through my mind. I needed to save myself, I needed to escape this horrible place. I tried looking for an exit, but the only possible one I could think of was the open window back in the room I had woke up in. How was I going to get back there' And how long would I have left once I did get there' Was I the next victim' It was a risk I had to take.
Taking a glance back at the body behind me I knew I had to go now. The look in her eyes was almost as if she was warning me. So I made my way back to the door, checked their was nobody or nothing in sight and left the lady lying just as I found her.
I slowly snuck through the corridor, going back the way I had come, but something seemed strange, something had changed. I took a look at the paintings, they all were still placed the same as what I could remember, but I noticed that there was an empty frame hung near the next room, it was the one I had been in. Then I realised the painting beside it was of the beautiful woman that I had just seen, the last victim. Assuming these paintings must have ran in some kind of order. Order of deaths…I fearfully hurried into the room, slamming the door, not caring about whether I could be heard. And pushed the bolts down, making sure the door was firmly locked.
In the corner of my eye I saw a faint green coloured glow, as I turnt around I noticed the figure of someone in a cape, the glowing item was the same as the one at the beginning and this figure was holding it. I dropped my candle in shock, screamed as loud as my body would let me, my eyes were locked on the blood shot ones of this silhouette…the window slammed shut behind it but I didn't even flinch.
I still didn't know what this glowing object was but what I was sure was that this figure wasn't human…it was a vampire.
