1. What is a hierarchical organizational structure'
In a nutshell, a hierarchical structure is a way of getting tasks done in a firm. This structure has a number of levels and a chain of command by which decisions are made. It is a method of distributing tasks within an organization, having to do with distribution or activity across departments and functions of employees. This can be mapped in an organizational chart.
2. Describe the three levels of responsibility of Tamac and the key roles for each.
The three levels of responsibility of Tamac can be classified into three parts. First comes the managers, then the supervisors and finally the operators.
Managers try to surpass the goals the firm has set; satisfying both internal and external customers. It is important for the managers to cooperate with other managers for heightened efficiency and effectiveness.
A tool that supervisors implement is best practice. Best practice is the development of performance standards based upon the most efficient practices within an organization. With this practice, value-added services, the benefits that are added during the process to the product or service for the end user, are created. This results in a higher price for the customer, generating more revenue for the firm. Supervisors therefore have to work with managers to ensure that operators apply procedures and practices consistently.
The qualities of operators are: accuracy, efficiency and a high level of individual responsibility. They are responsible for daily operations of the business.
3. Explain how organizational structure supports business aims and objectives.
The aim of a business is mainly to generate high revenue. In order to do this, a company must achieve dual goals: effectiveness and efficiency. Organizational structure plays an important role here, because it provides the outline.
4. Evaluate how key performance indicators help to drive business improvements.
Key performance indicators are targets set to monitor performance across a range of activities within a function, department or role. One function of a target is to change the abstract to the specific. Therefore, within a firm, when the KPI is set, employees have a benchmark, something to reach for. With this united goal, they feel that they are part of the company, instead of a complete outsider. As a result they are motivated to work on behalf of the firm.
