The Day of September 11, 2001 The tragedy of September 11, 2001 left America with a day of devastation and terror. The terrorist attacks of September 11th cause America millions of dollars, lost of family, and friends. This kind of event has never happened to America; our nation never expected something like this. The day of September 11, 2001 is an important event that has caused our world to change. The day of September 11, 2001 change history. On this day four planes were hijacked; two hit each twin tower, one hit the Pentagon, and the others were crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Flight 11 was the first plane to be hijacked, and then hit the north tower. At 7:59 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11, a Boeing 767 plane leaves Boston Logan International Airport bound to L.A.X. 8:40 a.m., The FAA learns that the plane has been hijacked. At 8:45 a.m., Flight 11 hits the north tower in the World Trade Center Complex. 8:14 a.m., Flight 175 leaves from Boston bound to L.A.X. 8:43 a.m., the FAA notifies the hijack of the plane. 9:03 a.m., Flight 175 crashes into the south tower in the World Trade Center Complex. Flight 77, leaves Washington Dulles Airport bound for L.A.X. At 8:20 a.m. 9:24 a.m., the FAA notifies the hijack of Flight 77. 9:40 a.m., Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon. Flight 93 leaves Neward International bound to San Francisco at 8:42 a.m. 9:45 a.m.; an operator gets a cell phone call from a traveler on United 93. He tells the operator that United 93 has been hijacked and that they are going to fight back. 10:37 a.m., Flight 93 crashes into a field Shanksville, PA. (“Background: The Flights” 1). The day of September 11, 2001 caused deaths; Twin Towers caused 2,752 deaths, the Pentagon caused 169 deaths, and United 93 caused 44 deaths. This event changed the world economy in a big way. In the US it has become less for foreign talent. The toughness of getting US visas has moved students to the Australia, Canada, and the UK, instead of the students to the US. (“McRae” 3) 9/11 affected a lot of America, especially the traveling. American tourists have stayed closer to America. Airlines have troubled, American and United, the two largest in the US. Both airlines have lost millions of dollars the last three years. After September 11th most airlines questioned by how they could pay for the higher insurance costs. This day changed the traveling of the US. (“Calder” 8). The day of September 11 caused a lot of racism towards Arabs and Muslims. In 2002, immigration officers had young men from Muslim countries to volunteer themselves to be asked questions, photographed, fingerprinted and given a registration number. This program had ended but the harm was done, because it was racist to do this kind of thing. About 16% of the men who volunteered were deported, and were required to leave their families. Arab-Americans are more likely to be given racial comments than whites, but racial comments against all nonwhites have gone up after this day. (“Smith” 2) Without this event, would the London plot have been foiled, would there have been an Iraq war' Without the Iraq war, would there have been a London plot' All these events would have never happened if the attacks of the day of September 11, 2001 never occurred. This proves that this day was an important part of history, and will not be forgotten. (“Heilemann” 1). The day of September 11, 2001 changed America in a lot of different ways; with companies going down, racism, and more. It caused events to happen and if this day never happened it would be a different world. This day of destruction and horror changed our world forever.
