Even though some people think that it is unnecessary to eat healthy to live longer, healthy eating is essential for you well-being. Why is healthy eating important' Prevent Disease Eating healthy has many rewards. It is like fuel for our bodies. A lot of people do not take into consideration what they put in their bodies which result to an early grave. There are many diseases and health problems that come along with not eating healthy. One of the common diseases that Americans face is obesity. You can prevent certain diseases or lessen their affect on your health. You can do this by eating a certain food called superfoods. Superfoods are foods that are rich in phytonutrients. These are foods that scientific research had shown that have health-promoting properties, and superfoods are beneficial to the human health. They also have beneficial properties of prevention and allow us to have better health. Manage Disease Not only can healthy eating prevent disease but healthy eating can help individuals to manage certain disease. Studies have showed that the body heals itself through a proper diet. You have to have a health body for the body to be able to function in those capabilities that allow the body to heal itself. There are certain diseases that results from unhealthy diet and can be managed with a proper diet. Diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure can be managed simply by changing your diet. Most individuals think that eating healthy is a devastating change. They fail in their mind before they have a chance to change their eating habits. For diabetes healthy eating can control blood sugar. It can even reduce or prevent complications from diabetes from getting out of hand and possible progressing. You can even lower your cholesterols levels by just eating foods low in saturated fat and trans fat. A change in the way you eat can even lower high blood pressure or hypertension. Lowering your salt intake alone can help with high blood pressure. Healthy eating should be a way of life. A change in your diet alone can benefit the body. Although food is not medicine and cannot cure disease long term healthy eating can definitely support good health. How do I start eating healthy' Evaluate how you eat. A lot of people think that it is difficult to break a habit. But you only get one body so take care of it. You can start taking care of your body by eating health. The start to healthy eating is not hard. Your first step is to evaluate how you are currently eating. You may not know a lot about healthy eating, but the foundation of a healthy diet is easy to outline. You have an idea of what is not healthy that you are including in your everyday diet. Take the time to sit and make a list of your eating habits. What are you eating that is not healthy for you. Nike have a saying, “Just do it.” And that is what you need to do. Stop thinking about eating healthy and focusing on the challenge it may present. “Just do it.” Take the time to research and know what is in the food that you are putting in your body and what affect does those foods have on the body. Start small Healthy eating maybe hard work starting out but it can be learned. Do not try to overload yourself. Start small and start slow until you get in a habit of eating healthy. Starting out your main goal will be to make sure you are getting all of the nutrients that you body needs. Some people are able to do this in one setting, but it is important that you start small if you feel that you maybe trying to introduce too much at one time. Healthy eating may take time to plan in the beginning. The idea is to make sure you include a variety of foods in your meals. The best way to do this is to take a look at the basic food group. The basic food group collectively shows what you body needs from each food group. This ensures you get all the nutrients you body needs daily to function properly. How to continue to eat healthy' Creativity It is true that many individuals eat what is appealing to the eye. Just because you are eating healthy do not mean that you can not be creative with your food. If your prior eating habits are unhealthy try healthy substitutes that you may like. It is still possible for you to enjoy for and not feel guilty for eating it. Find creative ways to make your food pleasurable to your appetite. Simple things can be done to add creativity to your food. Fruits are naturally sweet. Try adding fruit to your cereal. Even eating a piece of fruit in between meals can cut your urge to snack on unhealthy food. Eating should not only be healthy but fun. Healthy Choices Healthy eating should go beyond your home. Many restaurants offer healthy alternatives on their menus. A soup or salad bar can make a difference in your diet. Choose a healthy alternative when dining out. There is no reason why you should stop eating healthy when you dine out. The following options maybe help: • Order juice or water instead of sodas. • Order smaller portions when dining out. Larger portions may cause you to feel as if you have to eat more. • Order less fried foods. Try more broiled or grilled foods. • Order vegetables in place of starches. • Cut back on the breads. These are just a few, but you are on your way to having a healthy eating lifestyle.
