My Proposal for a New Health Care System My vision for a new health care system would allow everyone to have the same health care insurance at an affordable price. I do not believe there should be different types of insurance for people to choose from, there should only be one type of insurance that everyone has the same. I believe the new health care system would almost run the same as car insurance. You pay a certain amount every month rather you use it or not, and when something happens you can utilize it regardless of the severity. By implementing the plan every patient will benefit from it in many ways. I think a benefit of implementing this plan is that people will be able to live healthier lives and take better care of their families. There are so many people that are dying because they cannot afford to go to the doctor or cannot afford the required medication to keep them healthy. Allowing everyone to have health insurance is going to make our country much healthier. I also think physicians will benefit as well because the new plan will bring them more business.  Part of the health care plan would consist of co-pays to the upper class patients and some to the middle class, but it should be determined by their income. If you make over a hundred thousand dollars a year, of course your monthly co-payment will be a bit higher. The same goes for the middle class as well. Basically, the amount of money the citizens will have to pay for their insurance will depend on their income. The good part, it will be a percentage of your monthly income.   The only disadvantage would be to the government because they will have to contribute quite a bit of money towards healthcare. I believe the government could cut costs in other ways to support this plan. My plan would allow the government to use seized drug money to support the health care plan. Everyday there is so much money seized from drug dealers and such, and they government should be putting this towards our country instead of burning it.   One of the greatest challenges is for elderly people, because in most cases their finances are workable until their health care starts to decline. In a lot of cases the elderly live a comfortable life and then their health starts to decline so rapidly that at a certain point it almost seems they have nothing left because of high health care costs. The elderly face many challenges when it comes to long term health care. Their finances have to qualify in order to live in a facility because most of them don't have the money for the care they need. I really do not see many alternatives to long-term health care for the elderly because most of the money they have is from social security, which is not much in most cases. I propose that once a person turns a certain age and is considered elderly, they should receive almost all of their health care services at no cost. I think the government should cover their costs by paying the physicians for their care and the facilities they live in. Of course, their income should be considered. If they are wealthy or comfortable with their income, maybe they could pay their co-pays or a portion of the costs. Managed care’s entry into the mental health services market has helped with coordination of medical services but has done little to enhance the types of social services needed by many people who suffer from mental illness. Reports indicate that there are more persons with serious mental illness in street shelters and prisons than in hospitals, largely because of the failure of deinstitutionalization, which results in those discharged from mental hospitals not being cared for in the community and drifting into homelessness and destitution. I propose to have clinics specifically for people with mental illnesses where they can receive the services they need, just as everyone else. Homeless people or low income families that may not have jobs or make bare minimum would still receive the same benefits as the rest of the country. The only difference is the government pays their amount required just like everyone else has to pay. The proposed system would solve the current problem of people in this country dying and living with awful medical problems, because they can now have insurance to receive medical care. There will always be government assistance for people that are homeless or make bare minimum money, but the plan will allow everyone the same benefits. The only problems I see this plan having is not enough money to cover everyone. The government only has so much money, but as I said earlier, there is a lot of money available that could go towards healthcare. Health care is probably the most important thing in our country. People must be healthy and have the options to receive proper health care and medicine to do so. Without proper health care for the citizens, this country will fall apart because people will be too sick to work and take care of their families.
