In our Mid Michigan area the office I work at chooses Sheldon Medical Supply over the other medical companies, because they have provided our office and our patients with outstanding services. Sheldon Medical Supply is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week at their 1-800 number or their website www.sheldonmedicalsupply.com. Upon visiting their website they tell you about themselves and when and how they got started as a company. They take pride with their commitment with the Joint Commission so their clients, employees, and patients know they uphold the highest of standards. Sheldon Medical Supply Company also has a mission statement. “Sheldon Medical Supply is one of Michigan’s premier providers of home medical equipment. Through partnership within the health care community, our ongoing mission is to serve patients and other customers with outstanding service in a cost effective manner.”(Sheldon). Sheldon Medical Supply offers several home services. First service is, patient mobility. Their technicians will talk to the patient, discuss their situation and decide which equipment and/or accessory that is best for the patient. In mobility they offer: Wheelchairs, forearm crutches, electric carts, sidestep walkers, canes, quad canes, power wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and wheeled walkers. Respiratory equipment is offered twenty-four hours a day along with having Registered Therapist on staff. In respiratory equipment they offer: Oxygen therapy such as: concentrators, stationary tank systems, and portable systems. Nebulizer and Unit dose medications such as: Home aerosol treatments, top-of-the-line equipment, pharmacy coordination, prompt delivery of machine and medication, and monthly shipments straight to the patient’s door. Other respiratory equipment such as: Suction machines, BIPAP, CPAP, trach supplies, and ventilators. If a patient does need a ventilator the twenty-four hour respiratory therapist will schedule clinical visits, do a plan of treatment, make sure there is a written communication between health care professionals, they do the weaning protocols, ABG draws, and discuss with case managers. Sheldon Medical Supply offers great personal attention when it comes to their homecare equipment they have to offer such as: Hospital beds and accessories like trapezes, air mattresses, and side rails. Also, electric lift chairs, patient lifts, wheelchairs, and commodes. Lastly, they offer diabetic supplies like monitors, strips, and lancets. Also, wound care products to accommodate all wound care patients like certain mattresses; custom molded seats, air, gel, or foam for wheelchairs, and wound care supplies. Sheldon Medical Supply is dedicated to superior patient care with services that fit in the continuum of care. They work in collaboration with physicians, clinicians; patients care coordinators, care managers, discharge planners, patients and families, and insurance companies. They do this with licensed Respiratory Therapists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, on staff pharmacists, billing experts to guide patients/physicians through the claim process, patient care coordinators that are trained in the assessment and coordination of services, products, and insurance needs of the patient, trained technicians to deliver and demonstrate the equipment and supplies with a reassuring natures and expert knowledge of the products that are needed. Their dedication has helped facilitate seamless movement among care settings. While looking through Sheldon Medical website you can be directed to another website called Oxy Tech, which is Sheldon Medical Supplies partner. Oxy Tech is more medical supplies that are made with the highest quality. You can go to their page and click on the manufactures and it will take you to their website. Here they are making buying medical equipment and supplies online easy with lists if the industries top supplies as well as medical supply information this way you can make a more informed decision. Oxy Tech also repairs power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, and scooter. Sheldon’s website also has a tab that discusses the Privacy Practice and what they may use and disclose of your health information to carry out any treatment, payment, or health care you need as their patient. They also go on to help you understand your health record and your health information. This is done because understanding what is in your health record and how your health information is used helps you to: ensure its accuracy, better understand who, what, when, where, and why other may access your health information, and make more informed decisions when authorizing disclosure to others. (Sheldon) Sheldon Medical Supply will not stop with just them. They also will give you information about alternative treatment or other health care related benefits and services that may be of interest to you in your area like diabetes clinics, home nurses, and hospice. This company has eight main offices in Michigan and serves twenty-nine surrounding locations throughout Mid Michigan in order to serve patients and providers with the utmost best professional services they deserve. The Sheldon Medical Supply site was easily understood and easy to use do to it’s clearly defined navigation I was able to have a better understanding to what services they had to offer. Through their online catalog that offers pictures and descriptions of most of their products that they offer. Also, if you don’t find what you are looking for they are sure they can find it for you. You can do all your online ordering through a thing they call “Script Pad” to order or re-order supplies. Before they ship or put the item through your insurance or bill you they call and verify all submissions before processing. They also make it easy to make payments you can apply for a loan through a bank, use your credit or debit card, and/or also have your funds electronically transferred from your checking or savings into their secured account. If I ever needed to use a website for medical supplies for myself, family, friend, or patient I would chose Sheldon Medical Supply. They are locally owned and operated. I called the company to see if the people I spoke to would live up to their description on their website, and much to my surprise everyone was pleased to talk to me and answer any question I had. They didn’t give off any vibe that I was wasting their time. I asked them what they could do for patients who were uninsured and could not afford their services. The representative told me they work with everyone. They even have rentals and as long as they make even a five-dollar payment that is ok. They have even donated equipment to homeless shelters and other areas in the surrounding community. In all, I am very pleased with Sheldon Medical Supply. They stand up to their mission statement and continue accreditation by the Joint Commission.
