* Demographic- Demographic information is information collected about human populations that keeps track of distribution of the population, gender, age, and race. * Culture- Goes deeper than demographic information, getting into human’s ability to learn and capacity for new information regarding various factors of life, involving traditions that various groups have. Pertinent to collecting information for healthcare purposes. * Epidemiology- Epidemiology is the study of various factors relating to disease, disability, and death in human beings. Also involves the study of the history of disease in the population. * Managed care- The concept of managed care is a system where the delivery of care and payment for services are combined in one system. * Public health- Public Health is an everyday thing involving our health that is addressed by things like precautionary measures to avoid injury, and campaigns to encourage healthier lifestyles. * Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)- A type of healthcare system that is funded by healthcare premiums to provide care for enrollees and their families. * Medicare- A federal health system in place to provide services for individuals over 65 as well as people with disabilities. * Medicaid- A federal health system providing services for people in times of financial hardship when they could not afford it otherwise. * Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996- A federal law that sets up procedures for electronic data exchange and also controls insurance portability. * National Institute for Health (NIH)- The National Institute for Health is a collection of agencies that are responsible for the health of our nation.
