Finding_Soldiers

Finding soldiers is something that we have tried doing since we had our freedoms threatened. Maybe back in the day soldiers were called rebels but, people knew what they stood and fought for. Now a day the people have lost sight of what the soldier is all about. Being a soldier is about respect and self sacrifice not form just the soldier but from their family as well. Being deployed ten times I can tell you that it takes a strong woman to be there the whole time. Not every one can do that, and it is apparent because if every one could leave their families with out a problem then every one would have joined the military. The people of the United States need to see the pain and sacrifice that goes on in a military family when one of the parents is on deployment. Recruiters now try to throw a big number that you could qualify for, not guaranteed to get. Then once you are in the office and signing the papers they answer all of your questions in a positive way. Now that you are in you see that it is not all rosy like you were told it would be. But you have no choice but to try your best since you are in the military. You are going to have your family be disappointed in you just because you are doing something that you were not ready for. And you quickly adjust to the new demands of your job. You stay later than you would like to, next you stay over night for you 24 hr duties. Before you know it you have just about completely pushed your family out of the picture so that the military consumes your entire life. The first time that you try and put the family first you are faced with more static than you could have imagined. Your Chain of Command (CoC) hits you with all kinds of questions, why do you need to be there for the appoint, is during the work day the only time that you could schedule the appointment, why can’t it not wait till next week, can’t you wife take care of it' The military needs to look after the needs of the soldiers that are currently serving and who want to make it a career. The military will forcibly teach you to be dependable and able to endure the work load with injuries. Telling your CoC that you were late and I got sick will not fly. If you fail to meet your objective then you are looked at like a piece of dirt. Command picnics and parties are not on the highlights of anyone, simply because the commands have removed all possible fun and enjoyment from interacting with ones’ fellow soldier. Who wants to subject there family to a forced interaction if they do not have to' The military needs to invest in their soldiers just as much as the soldiers’ families invest in the soldier. If that were to happen then I can promise a huge turn around by the American people. The American people would support the military more. The most successful industries the world are the ones were the family and the employees are supporting the company. The enjoyment that the family gets from the company spills over on to their relatives and friends. If the company has no support from the families and very little from the employees the company will not reach its full potential. Today’s media shows the military in a bad light. The American people feed off of the negativity in the world. The media does not have to even try they just edit out the facts about why we are over there in the first place and put in place bombs and the tally of deaths for the war. The media should be made to show the military’s involvement in the war as a necessary force. The more of a positive view that the media can make for the viewing population will help people get to unification for the men and women fighting the war for our freedom. We need to support our troops in every thing that we do. The military personal do not get all of the first ten amendments like civilians do. The military gives up the rights that they are fighting for. They defend your rights to speak blasphemous things about the very people that are defending you. So how much support can you honestly get from people when they are allowed to talk trash about something that they do not have the courage to do themselves' The military is trying to change their image for a more glamorous appeal but the fact is that when people can talk down toward something that will not understand and you will never get the support that you want. The military is a tough organization to be apart of, but it is hard to convey that to some one with out being negative. You might be finished with work but your CoC might decide that they have just one more thing for you to do before you leave. They just decide to give you the last task 2 hours after the work day. Now what can you do' Not really anything. And you cannot just walk out and quick because you do not have the option to do that. If you voice your opinion about the decision on working long after working hours you could be put on report or face a Non Judicial Punishment (NJP). Is this right' No, it is not right. But yet the soldiers are forced to do this day after day to make a living for their families. Why can’t we find a way to show support for the people that are not allowed the very rights that they are defending. The military does a lax physical assessment for the soldiers. The Navy for instance does a mile and half and push-ups and some sit-ups. The Army does a Physical Training (PT) session every week and an assessment every month. The Air force, as long as they show up on time they are good. Why is each branch aloud to hold different standards' Why is the military allowed to be fat and lazy' You are in the military and should be physically fit for everyone to see it when they first see you. When I think of the military I think of a crew of “bad asses”, not the fat men and women that you see now. We, the military, are hurting our own image by not holding a high PT standard for ourselves. The people that want to work out but are not given the time are getting miserable. The command says that they give you time to go work out but when your CoC says you can do that on your own time, when is that time' What time is my own time, taps to reveille' Why can I not be allowed time through the day to do what I need to for the military' We are supposed to have time through the work day set aside to work to be able to stay in standards and yet you are not allowed to exercise. The military offers schooling for the soldiers and it is a great program. You get free money to go to school and as long as you do not fail then you do not have to pay any money back. But if you are on a Sea command then you cannot miss any underway periods and rarely allowed off work early to go to class. When you are under way the conductivity could work great but at any time without warning the connection could stop. The homework gets turned in late and one can only hope that your professor understands that you are not in control of the internet connection or the ability of uploading information to be able to turn it on time. But the military cannot, stop you from pursuing your education but it will be difficult. The military needs to take time and invest more into their soldiers, and get rid of the ones that are overweight and out of shape and just do not want to be there so that the career minded can have a better and a more enjoyable experience. We as Americans need to show our support for the troops fighting for our freedoms. Saying thank you to someone in uniform will bring up their spirits tremendously. Support for the men and women in uniform are very important, it is not always enough to say that you support them. Sometimes you need to show it. The military is a force to be feared and revered not slandered and put down.
