Production Portfolio
Pre production
As part of a group our challenge was to get the impact of the comedy across to the audience, this was key to creating this movie. To complete this we had to decide on location, time of day, weather if it would be suitable to do it in the rain or sun or inside etc., light and would the actor be able to pull off the part we had in mind. If they had the time to do this with us and fit our timetable as well as there own individual timetables. We eventually agreed on classroom in our school that created the prefect atmosphere for us to film our movie. We were inspired by our daily routine of the being in the school.

We aimed to make sure that the actors looked like they belong to the surrounding of a classroom so formal with ties and shirts were a must have for this movie. For the main part we want an average looking student so that it seemed more realistic to the viewers, which was an important feature to the movie.
Production
The main issue with our team’s production was shooting time. As we shot it on school grounds we had a limit on time due to the fact our actors were friends who had to get to class on time. We also had to make sure we did not disturb other classes that were around us. This caused us to have to shot it over two days meaning problems with wardrobe as well as actors being absent and busy with other subject to give up there free time again. This was due to our inexperience of creating such a movie.
There was also a problem with communication at the start as there was lack of explanation of the idea and the direction the movie was heading between the director and scriptwriter so when it came to setting up people were unable to explain what was happening and in what order the were filming and where the actors should be placed to get the scene. When it came to editing we noticed frames were missing and that instructions came through that we were unable to remove from the clip. The storyboards were a great help once we started using them again and it helped us to see where everyone should be and took a lot of the stress and confusion away and helped us focus on one thing at a time.

There were a few changes as we began to film, as it was not possible to get some shots that we had drawn or we found ways that improve and make it clear as to what message we are trying portray
Post Production
In editing in the missing shoots the story line flowed and became clear. This was the case when our actor awakens from within his day dream, at one part and to begin an other one at the end, this shows great linkage and shows the theme of the story line. To make sure people understood the movie we made a close up of James’ face to show him falling into a day dream and awakening from one which is slightly different from what’s is normal used in a shot like this. As film makers usually focus the camera on their eyes as they awake or open from a dream or deep sleep

Evaluation/Reflection
The aim for this film was to put a spin on the normal human desire to know where you are going to be in the future and what you are working so hard towards. We feel that we managed to achieve this though out the film. We did this with our scene location of the school, as that is where you make the most important decision of your life as to what university and career you what to aim for.
Next time we are doing this I would try and organize our time more carefully and try to have a meeting with crew members and actors before we start filming so people are more aware of what’s happening and where they are needed at what time and what to wear. As I would think people would find this less stressful and give them time to run through the script. So we can see what changes are needed to the script before filming starts. It can also give the director more ideas as where to what shots would work best for each scene and what actors play the part for which character the best.
