Making this assignment was a new experience and also a hard task, not only because of the time it took me but also because of the emotional feelings. I found out something that I didn’t believe that I had inside my family. Although I found out things not very positive, this investigation made me know better my family, the real true of the whole family. I Believe that something positive came out from all this, not having any more secrets and understanding my family just the way it is. One positive patter is that in my family we only have two cases of SXV and one of SXP. My PGM was molested by her father when she was 9 and this lasted five years. She runway from her house at the age of fourteen, she had to runway because her mother knew what was going on but she didn’t supported her, his mother was afraid of his father. My MA₁ was sexual abuse by his husband when his was under the influences of drugs. There is not much violence inside my family only a few cases that were past in each of the generations. Obviously in violence there is a victim and a violence perpetrator and in my family I have both. For example in line 1 my MGF and MGM where violent with each others, this was like a mutual problem, they both were the violence victim and violence perpetrator. I think that this had a great impact in line 2 with my MA₁ in her relationship with his husband because she grew up in a violent family, so she learned to be the victim. This was because she experienced violence between their parents during a young age. I think that this is like a patter in some family members. Although my MA₁ was not the only child I find out that there were not any more violence situations with my other aunts and uncles from my maternal family side. Also in Line 3 my HB₁ used to be a violence victim in his first relationship. In this case we didn’t had any violence between our parents, but his ex partner had some violence inside her family, so this is also part of a pattern. Fortunately we don’t have any violence in line 4 so far. Divorces are not very popular in my family we have none of them so far, so I guess this would be something positive too. Also most of my family had gone to school at list to elementary school. Not much physical illness in my family. A negative patter is that we have some members in my family that had problem with law. For example my father had problems with the law because of problems related we the IRS in Mexico, the good thing is that he didn’t when to jail or nothing, but it took him a while to fix all that. Most of my family members related with problems where because of Sub. A. and public perturbation. Violence was also related in one case with MA₁H and this member went to jail for 20 years. He went to jail because he almost killed my MA₁, he sent her to the hospital for three weeks. She had her nose and four ribs broken. He was a SXP with my aunt and he also was kind of a drug dealer. Sub. A. is also a negative factor that we have since my MGF. He had a problem with alcohol, his also was related to violence. My father used to have a problem with alcohol to unfortunately he look for some help and he recovered. The good thing was that he was not aggressive or nothing with us or my mom. Also my PU₁ had a problem with Sub. A., but this time was alcohol and drugs. My HB₁ has also a problem with drugs he also went to a recovery center. MA₁ had a problem with tobacco and alcohol, she quite the alcohol but she still has a problem with the cigars. The other members that I didn’t mentioned are because they just have a problem with the cigarettes. In line 4 I do have a problem with these members because the people that I have in this line are too young to be drinking and smoking. They feel that they are cool by doing this. I think that this is because they are influence by friend of the same age. Fortunately we haven’t known about any drug addiction in this line. But once you start with some addictions this take you to another and I think that this member are at a risk because of their young age and the need of liking to try new things to be more cool. Another negative pattern that a can see in the upper graph is a lot of unstable marriage. This is also influenced by other patters for example my MGF and MGM has unstable marriage due to violence. Also my MA₁ and MA₁H marriage was is unstable due to other patterns like violence, Sub. A. and Sexual Abuse. Another case of unstable marriage would by my mom and dad, this was affected by work and money he was never at home with use because my dad was always traveling to make money and to provide everything we needed. My HB₁ has also unstable marriage with HB₁W because of financial problems. Financial unstable is another factor that is reflected on my family graph. The 80 % of my family that has financial situation unstable is because of the lack of education. Most of my family members just have completed their studies to high school. Education has a great impact in your economy too, because if you are not prepare your knowledge is limited. The other 20% is because of Sub. A. and emotional Illness. Emotional illness is another problem. My family members have a lot of stress, depression, and emotional problems. This is because of financial issues, work, school, family problems etc. For example my dad has stress because a lot of pressure at his work. My mom feels depress because she doesn’t sees him that much and this also affects her emotions. I can also feel some this stress out because of school and sometimes depress because I have be in college for so long and I could not transfer to SDSU. Analyzing my family graph I realize that I have a lot of negative patterns. I was not really doing anything to get rid of them, because I was not aware that most of them existed. Now that I know about this patterns what I can do to help to change thing is helping them fine some support. For example the members that have problem with Sub. A., they will need to recognize that they need help in order to receive it otherwise nothing would be worth it. Also the members that have been involved in a violence environment or happened to have any emotional illness should receive some psychological help to overcome all the bad emotions. A marriage therapy should also be provided for all those unstable marriage, to help them realize what they should do to solve their problems and live a better life. People with unstable financial situation should, identify how come they are facing this problem in order to find a solution. Perhaps people with unstable financial situation with a short education should be thinking in returning to school to get a degree. Helping my family will not be an easy task for me, because also the change depends on everybody’s attitude. Also something important is to share this graph with every member in the family so they can also be aware of all the family problems that we have and let them know the objective of this. This should also make them realize all the negative patters that we have and how they have been coming from generation to generation. If I could get rid of some of my family it would be MA₁H, because he has made a lot of dame to my family especially to my MA₁. I think that everyone in my family has witness a bad situation with this family member. If I could add some one it would be a good friend of all my life. Because he has also grown with my entire cousin and he also knows my family the same way I used to know it. He is more than a friend he is like a brother. He used to live with us since he was 12 years old until he got marriage. He sees my mom and dad as important people in his life because they practically adopted him. He used to live next door, but their parent where never home and he is the only child. His grandma used to take care of him since he was born until she die and since that they he was accepted by my family. I considered him a family member because he grew with us.
