|flip chart or split them into smaller groups and draw their own lists up. The students would feel that | |
|they are contributing to the regulations and help promote inclusion, if students set the ground rules they| |
|are more likely to obey and enforce them since they had a key role in developing them. This method will | |
|benefit the trainer in such ways that if there are any issues or breach of the rules, these could be | |
|managed better within the group as they have taken ownership and thereby help avoid any potential | |
|confrontation. | |
| Although these ground rules have been established by the students the trainer must also agree to abide by | |
|them. This will help establish the trainer as part of the team, therefore promoting and creating a good | |
|learning environment, team spirit and show them that they are valued. Once the rules have been established| |
|they could be displayed in the classroom as a reminder of the ground rules but it should be agreed that | |
|this is a living and evolving document that assists the learning environment and closes down any barrier | |
|to learning that may be disruptive to other students or the tutor. | |
