Essay Point of view is the backbone of all stories it is how to reader will read and see the story . The following stories use the same point of view thus creating almost the same effect . The point of view being third person pov as it is being narrated and we can see what characters and saying and doing. Third person point of view lets the reader know what other characters are doing but does not let them know what they are feeling or thinking. As well as it lets the reader form their own opinions about events and characters. The point of view of "The Lottery" is the dramatic or third-person objective. The narrator is an unnamed witness of the lottery who is moving invisibly though the crowd, and thus is able to see and hear what is happening and how the townsfolk are responding. Sometimes the narrator seems close enough to people to hear and report what they say. At other times he or she is at a distance and thus simply reports actions and general reactions. In addition, the nameless narrator has a good supply of extra information about the background of the lottery and also about the activities of Messieurs Graves and Summers the night before. Then the story of an hour is told from a detached, third-person limited point of view. The reader identifies with Louise, the only character whose thoughts are accessible. At the beginning of the story, Louise is incapable of reflecting on her own experience. As Louise becomes conscious of her situation and emotions, the reader gains access to her thinking which reveals her character. When she goes back downstairs, the reader is quickly cut off from her thoughts. That is when she dies when she sees her husband alive I almost looks like she died of happiness which is not the case. In conclusion both stories use a kind of third person point of view to give the reader a bit more of detail rather than just using first person point of view .
