WEEK 6
Would you rather watch World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), or Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) wrestling' These two professional-wrestling giants share many features with each other. They have both have world-known entertainers whom work for them, and fans who watch. Both have wrestlers who have jumped from TNA to WWE, or WWE to TNA. Both companies do have many differences. TNA has one television show a week, compared to WWE’s four television programs. WWE is a billion-dollar organization, who has the strength to sell out arenas all over the world, while TNA Is held in Florida for TV tapings. Also, TNA does run shows at smaller event centers, that aren’t televised. A WWE superstar is on the road 300 plus days a year, compared to TNA working maybe three times a week. TNA is smaller, which gives them the ability to please the fans. They run smaller shows to be able to meet and greet the fans, sign autographs, and take pictures. WWE has at least 12,000 fans for each show, so they can’t give attention to each fan like TNA does. In conclusion, I answer the question of what I’d rather watch, and I stay loyal to WWE.
OUTLINE
Which Pro-Wrestling company to watch'
How many television shows run for each company'
Who is more fan friendly'
I chose this topic because it’s what I know the most about. Some people have loves for cars or animals, mine is professional wrestling. The easiest step in the writing process was coming up with a topic sentence. Rather than just deal with one company, I offered the question of “Would you watch TNA or WWE wrestling'” I felt this offered more variety, and gave pros and cons to each brand. Personally, I don’t think I need to work on one step, but all of them. You can never stop learning and you can always make your work better. It’s a matter of how much time you have in the process.
I learned that I write better about things I know about. I don’t want to B.S. someone about something I have no clue on. I’m going to give you the facts, make it interesting, and a good read. My goals in writing were just to be able to prove that I am able to write a paper still, and I can. This particular assignment was easy to me. I had little trouble choosing my topic and being able to compare/contrast it. It would be more difficult if I had a subject given to me, wherein order to know about it I would have to do research.
WEEK 7
The death of a loved-one can cause extreme amounts of heartache and pain. Death comes from out of nowhere and swipes away life. It also causes us to take a step back and think. Our final day could be tomorrow, and are you prepared to go' Have you accomplished everything you wanted to do' It leaves many open questions, and sometimes, not many answers. Perhaps you have had issues with family members in the past, and you aren’t currently on speaking terms with them. If you were to die, your family member would feel deep regret for never burying the hatchet. Instead, you’re the one being buried. As a person dies, you reflect on that persons’ life and how you treated them. Do you want to be the one whom lives with the guilt' With death, you should make things right with others. If not, you may never have the chance again.
Outline
1. Death of a loved one
a. Thoughts of regret
b. Confronting ones you have regret with
c. Burying the hatchet
2. Conclusion
a. If you don’t bury the hatchet, the person may die and you live with regret.
b. Take time to reflect and make things right.
I chose this topic from just an evening of thinking. My girlfriend’s grandmother was on her deathbed, and it just gave me inspiration for a paragraph. I felt if I personally died, I still would have thing I’d want to say to people. The easiest part of the writing process for me in this particular paragraph was the outline. The outline helps summarize the paragraph and I felt I would be able to cut this up into pieces well. I would have liked it better if I had done some brainstorming before starting this paragraph. It just kind of came to me that night. It could have been a few other ideas had I done some brainstorming.
I still need to work on everything when it comes to writing. I haven’t written paragraphs or essays in over four years. With this class, it has eased me back into writing and I feel more comfortable writing things. I learned as a writer, that in certain instances my flaws show. In this particular piece, I felt I jumped around too much and didn’t give enough emphasis on the paragraph at hand.
I personally did not accomplish any real goals with the completion of this paragraph. I just went in knowing what I had to do. I did the best to my ability, and I am satisfied with that. This assignment was a little difficult due to my poor planning. As I said earlier, I could have done more brainstorming.
WEEK 8
Pro wrestling
pro wrestling has evolved over the years from fights in the streets, to a sports entertainment phenomenon. From the early days of wrestling, there were largely known men such as George Hackenscmidt, gorgeous George, and Buddy Rogers. It was a real competition between two men, until promoters had the idea to publicize their wrestlers and make it a real money maker. Men would come up with characters that people would either love or hate. Audiences would come back night after night to see their most loved wrestler. The sport exploded and different regions were being developed. For example, you would have a northeast region, for the states in that area. There would be one world champion and they would spend a certain amount of time in each region. Each audience would get a glimpse of the champion.
My free writing is going well. I feel i have a lot to cover. I'm going to keep it straight to the point and avoid rambling on. There are many different things to cover. As the years go on more groups develop and i find it extremely hard to be able to cover them all. I would like to get my subject across and make sure people know the true history, rather than just saying it's fake.

Thesis statement- The history of professional wrestling dates back to the early 20th century, and hasn't looked back since.
Based off of my outline, I believe I have formulated a far better essay. Rather than getting into heavy detail about the entire history, I have made subsections of what to cover and what I thought were the focal points of the essay. The essay will leave the reader with more knowledge then what they had come into the thesis statement with. I will give you the reader a history of professional wrestling based off of my outline. My revisions are significant compared to of my weeks past. I am very confident going into this final essay. I believe I have the tools for battle.
FINAL REFLECTION
There has been so much I have learned in the past 10 weeks. I don’t know where to start. Most importantly I have learned how to successfully write any kind of paper. Over the years the knowledge has slipped from my mind. I feel refreshed in my abilities to write a paper. Week after week I was prided on what I wrote. When I would see each grade, I felt satisfied.
This class alone will help me in my many life ventures. With what I have learned, I will be able to deliver excellent pieces of work week after week. This will help me advance further onto my quest for a degree. In my work life, this class has benefitted me. If I am sending an important email to fellow co-workers, I can write with the upmost knowledge of writing and paragraph making. In result, this makes me look a lot better compared to someone who writes without caps or sentences.
In my personal life, this will help me write awesome essays if I decide to go after scholarship money. They look for good writing, and thanks to this class, I feel comfortable writing essays for money. It will also help me if I am send information to a possible employer.
My main midterm goal was to pass this class. In high school, I did what I had to do to get by. Now, I’m paying for my education and I need to do my best. I’m happy with how I m doing so far, and I hope I continue to do so. My second goal was to be able to improve my writing by taking more time. This would require slowing down and brainstorming. I have been doing a better job in this. I believe it helps me in broadening my horizons. Rather than writing about something I know, I should take a shot with something else. Finally, my third goal was to take what I have learned in this class, and apply it to another. I used what I learned in my Criminal Justice class. Often I would have to write two to three page essays. This class helped me in getting ready for that. It helped because I nearly aced the class. I am thankful for what I have learned from this class.
FINAL ESSAY
The history of professional wrestling goes back to the beginning of the 20th Century, and hasn’t looked back since. Wrestling then was nothing compared to what it is now. There was no pay-per-views, no weekly television shows. The only thing people had was the opportunity to go to their local coliseum and witness their favorite wrestlers go toe to toe. Up until the early 1920’s, it was an actual competition. After that, promoters got the idea of being able to stage “fake fighting” for money.
The two wrestlers would battle it out, with a predetermined winner, for money. Not just anyone could walk off the street to do this, but real athletic people, with special skills to perform the art. As years would go by, professional wrestling got a lot of exposure thanks to the invention of the television. More flamboyant and entertaining stars erupted onto the scene. Stars such as Gorgeous George and “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers were on the television weekly. People would get the chance to see their favorite wrestlers when the promoters went town to town. They would primarily keep it to larger markets, such as Chicago or New York. In bigger cities there would be bigger crowds, and more money.
As the 1970’s came, there were territories for wrestlers. Such as professional teams are separated into divisions, pro wrestling had something similar. The World Champion would spend a set amount of days, or months, in a territory. After the time was over, they would move on to another area, so opportunity for more money and exposure would come into play. The 70’s brought some of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and many others first came onto the scene in the 70’s, but would shine in the decade where wrestling sky-rocketed.
The 1980’s gave birth to the most well known wrestling company in the world, The World Wrestling Federation. The 1980’s had a lot that the years past did not have. This included the likes of primetime television and pay-per-view. The World Wrestling Federation (WWF) got its feet wet at the start of the 80’s. By 1985, Vince McMahon, owner of the WWF, introduced us to a revolution. Wrestle Mania was born and changed pro wrestling. Many people see Wrestle Mania as pro wrestling’s Super Bowl. It’s the one night a year where the who’s who of WWF wrestlers shine.
Through out the 80’s, many wrestlers became household names. The likes of Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Ultimate Warrior, The Rockers and The Honky Tonk Man were the main faces in the world of pro wrestling. The 80’s would soon come to an end, but the WWF wouldn’t be the only dog in town afterwards.
World Championship Wrestling (WCW) busted onto the scene in the early 1990’s. As WWF wrestlers didn’t sign on to another contract, WCW would offer more and steal from the competition. The likes of Hulk, Diesel, Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid would be the main wrestlers who would jump to WCW. As familiar faces went other places, new faces came out. The WWF would acquire wrestlers such as: The Undertaker, Yokozuna, Owen Hart and Lex Lugar. Each company would have their fair share of stars. For once, wrestling fans had options on to whom to watch.
As 1994 rolled around, a third company was brought into the mix. Eastern Championship Wrestling or Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) was the newest face to pro wrestling. They were nothing like their competition. ECW brought a hardcore feel to pro wrestling. Rather than have matches with rules, they had matches with no rules. You name it, it was used at one time. This company would soon be getting a cult following because of their loyalty to the fans and their violent matches.
As the 90’s went on, each company could do no wrong. Wrestling was everywhere. This wave of pro wrestling would soon fall as the 2000’s came. WWF was in their prime with amazing story lines and phenomenal characters. The likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker and Mankind were the main attraction. The WCW and ECW slowly started to see the end. Mid 1999, ECW stars would soon be appearing with the WWF. Their contracts were up, or they just quit. So they went somewhere with security. Halfway through 2000, ECW was gone. They couldn’t generate enough money to continue. WWF was too big and ECW shut their doors.
In the year 2001, Vince McMahon purchased the WCW. Soon the stars of WCW would be jobless, or on the WWF. For 6 years the WWF would be the big dog in all of pro wrestling. They had to switch their name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) because of a lawsuit with World Wildlife Foundation. The Wildlife Foundation was founded first, so the WWE had to give up the rights. WWE had expanded with more televisions shows and their own filming studio.
As WWE was riding the waves of popularity, a new company was on the rise. Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling was quietly rising. They were only limited their events being televised on pay-per-view. Eventually they would land a TV network deal. They would sign former WWE stars and rise up. Over the next few years TNA would compete against WWE on the same night. TNA is growing stronger each week and showing they can compete against WWE. Each week brings more history to the world of professional wrestling.
