Erikson’s eight stages of development are the stages life, which helps in the development in a person’s ego. The first stage is infancy which starts at birth and ends at 18 months this is when a infant feeling like trust and mistrust Second stage is early childhood is the second stage which is the ages 18 months to 3 years old which is the development stage when a child learn self control and courage. The third stage is the play age, which is between the ages from 3 to 5 years of age. During this stage the child learning how to take initiative in creating different play environment. The fourth stage is the school age stage, which is the age 6 to 12 years old this is when a child is during this stage he/she is developing an environment and using their social skills to communicate among their peers. The fifth stage is the adolescence, which is between the ages of 12 to 18 years of age. During this stage a child transform to a teenager which helps indentify one’s identity. The six stage is the young adulthood, which is between the ages of 18 to 35 During this stage a teenager learns how to become a adult by seeking independency and intimacy, which is affiliated with love. Stage seven of Erikson’s stages of development is middle adulthood, which is between the ages of 35 to 55 years of ages. This stage of life is also known as the “ Mid life Crisis” which is when an individual fined it difficult finding new meanings and purpose. The last stage of Erikson’s eight stages of development is late adulthood, which is the age between 55 to Death. During this stage an a person will learn how to overcome the middle adulthood life and learn how to detach themselves from life and learn how to accept death which is the end of life.
The stage that I am in my life is the young adult hood stage, which has slowly separated me from the adolescence stage, and develops me into a young women. During this stage I have develop a relationship with my husband and started my family as well during this stage. Since I am still young the central question that always come to my mind is “ What steps do I take to achieve my goals'” This question runs through my mind daily because I have already started my family and becoming successful is my number one of my main priorities in my life right now. Asking myself this question helps motivate and keep me focus on my goals for achievement in the future. For example I am currently attending school and I make sure that I keep a grade point average of a 3.0 or higher.
While developing different stages in life my mother is now going through her middle adulthood stage. During this stage the central question that is posed during this stage of her life is “ Have I invested enough'” This question is something that my mother is facing right now during her mid life crisis stage in her life. This question is something that fits her life stage because my mother has retired from work and wants to invest in property. For example she is going through her retirement seeing if she is financially stable to purchase property at this time in her life.
With Erikson’s eight stages in life helps indentify ego development, which is divided into these eight stages. The information that is provided in each stage helps understand the different changes we go through while trying to understand ourselves individual. After reading material Erikson’s stages in life and comparing them with other stages and real lives that the information provided is fairly true.
