"DRUGS AND SMOKE THRILL , BUT KILL" There are many underlying problems in our society that are overlooked. Some problems such as crime, violence, and littering will always be there- no matter how hard people try to stop such things. So people tend to try and overlook these problems. One of the main problems in the USA is the drug problem. Reports show that millions of people in the US have used and or are currently using an illegal drug of some sort. Many of these reformed drug addict have given reports on how using drugs has permanently damaged their lives. The most alarming recent studies show that the drug problem in the US has stayed the same, while the drug use among teenagers had risen drastically, according to the National Household Survey on Drug abuse by the Department of Health and Human Services. This is a problem that society cannot just overlook. The 1996 Parents Resource Institute for Drug Education survey estimates that every 1 in 10 high school senior use drugs daily. This figure is very disturbing. Our youth today are spending more time getting high than studying for classes or preparing for college. The time wasted on using drugs could be used on better things like preparing themselves for school colleges Laboratory and clinical researched that cigarette smoke contain around 4000 chemicals, some of them which are highly toxic. Nicotine is a major ingredient of tobacco smoke, and is highly addictive. Smoking cigarettes has causes around 419,000 deaths per year in the U.S. Smoking also increases the risk of cancer of the lungs, larynx, oral cavity, esophagus problems, kidney problems, and pancreas problems. As well as the risk of chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and stroke. About 70% of the public started smoking as a teenager even if they are aware that it's bad for their health and   life. There are many types of drugs that teens can use. For example, Marijuana, Ecstasy, Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, Speed, Morphine, Nicotine, and Tobacco. These are the most known drugs that Teenagers use. 1,000 teenage girls were surveyed from across the country and 100%; all of them said that they have used Marijuana. Then Ecstasy came in second with 25%. Problem with using drugs is that it just causes more problems to your life. Teens don't know that drugs won't solve any problems they have, it just messes it up more. Some of them don't even have problems; they just do it to be cool. Teenagers say that when you try it once, you just get hooked and can't seem to stop.Big problems can happen to each and every teen that continues to smoke and doesn't try to stop. These stories have a very valuable meaning to them. Continue to smoke, and you'll get choke. There are many corny don't smoke sayings, but no matter how corny they are, it's important not just listen to them but follow them as well. Don't smoke, it could ruin your life. Getting drunk is also a cause of a lot of car accidents all over the world . Drunken driving is the most stupid thing a teenager could do, as they are just putting their life in danger and if they are driving with others they are risking their lives too . I know this from my personal experience because my friend and I were victims in a drunken driving car accident recently . We were both in a car, and two other people not including the driver. My friend and I didn't know that our driver was drinking at the party. Our driver was a little overdose and dizzy, he drove right into a concrete wall. We were so lucky to have made it alive. The driver and the person on shotgun were injured but nothing happened too  badly. It is apparent that drugs are a major problem in society today. Problem is, it is affecting teenagers- the future of today. If society continues to ignore this problem, and act as it isn't really a problem at all, the future of our nation will be endangered. If our country begins to fail economically, then it will also effect other countries that trade with us. If this problem continues to be out of control, the whole world will become unstable. So we must start young, and make the teenagers aware of the dangers of abusing drugs, and do the whole world a favor. Therefore I've decided never to use or even touch drugs ever in my life. And even persuade people to do so.
