Of all the prestigious hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, Wynn Las Vegas and Encore resort is a luxurious 5 star hotel located at the heart of the strip. With over 2000 thousand guest rooms and luxurious suites, an approximate 111,000 square feet casino, offering fine-dining, gaming, shopping and entertainment. Wynn’s hotel mission is to care for their guest, compassion. They focus on diversity that goes beyond language, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and age. They believe in employees working together as a team from different worlds and ideas to achieve a common goal. They emphasized on inclusiveness, welcoming and supporting with one another. They embrace diversity as a whole. Wynn provides an equal opportunity for all employees working in the organisation with employees’ commitment in complying with all state and federal fair employment practice laws and maintains a workforce that reflects diversity of the Las Vegas Community.
Wynn provides diversity and inclusion through the diversity council in which the main purpose is to educate on how to provide a better service, and adopt sustainability in the workplace. Their main goals are to control the resources to create an inclusive corporate culture that realised the full potential of employees. They also foster a workplace that embraces diversity and develop external vendor relationship which supports their commitment and working to a fair and equal treatment. Other functional objectives includes creating collaboration between different departments diversity action plans and initiatives, to develop diversity practice framework and models in the organisation. Wynn recognises and communicates diversity practices and achievement throughout the organisation using their system of the Storyteller program. They immediately identify and address to the various emerging problems. They include ideas from external speakers to talk about diversity and developing a company-wide diversity scorecard.
I choose Wynn as the reputable leader of diversity because the hotel embraces Lesbians, Gays, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT). Wynn encourages diversity in the hotel that ensures a safe and welcomed work environment for all of its employees. The hotel is provides equality in the workplace and its one of the very first casino that offers same sex and domestic partner benefit in Las Vegas. Wynn’s commitment to LGBT employees is treated fairly and equally, with much respect by everyone working in the hotel. They ensure that no tolerance is given to anyone who discriminates the LGBT community and is protective of all LGBT employees. There is a employee sensitivity training which its main role is to educate and increase awareness for LGBT interests within the company. The training involves employee orientation through diversity, training highly skilled employees in providing a high level of service that creates a warm welcoming environment reaching to the satisfaction to all its guests. Wynn also has a Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, this campaign rates the various companies on equal rights for Lesbians, Gays, Bi-sexual and Transgender employees, and they managed to score a total of 100% in the corporate equality index in 2011.
