Deserts, Glaciers, and Climate
The desert landscape and the glacial landscape have a specific process in the formation of the different geological features. Glacial landscape is known to be made from either glacial deposition or erosion. The area that is under of above the glacial ice forms the erosional features while the ice melts, outwash deposits, met water deposits or tills forms the depositional features. Desert landscapes are usually created through the process that includes volcanic eruptions, erosions, weathering, and tectonic forces. With long periods of climatic cycles dry and wet periods has really contributed to the starting of different dessert landform features which include different types of sedimentary deposits.
Glaciers are like a river of ice that flows and it carries or move things that it comes into contact with. The movement is slow which can aggravate the terrains and cause valley walls that are steep sided, and can cause the bottom area to be really flat. If something is carried by glaciers it leaves deposition along the way it passes or within the areas where glaciers go. This process makes different glacial landscapes and they include Horns, Moraines, Glacial Erratic, Cirque, and Hanging Valleys. Landscape features that include alluvial fans, stream channels, dry lakebeds or playas, dunes, and mountain landscapes are usually made or created under current and past climatic conditions, changing their planet volcanic eruptions, weathering, intrusions, and communities.
A good example of glacial landscape would have to be a Moraine. It is usually seen down the mountain slopes or along the valleys which is created from glacial depositions. Moraines are created form the deposited debris or materials from a glacier. They are usually known or identified as long with sharp ridges made up of a mixture of gravel, sand, and rocks that have been deposited by a glacier that is melting.
An example of a desert landscape is Mountains which are made in different ways either erosional, volcanic, fault-block, or folded. Erosional mountains are made when water and wind cause wearing down of weak spots in land causing non-resistant material to wash away while stronger material are left.

A specific interpretation of the past and present climate data is and can be difficult. Many theories do explain that the climate changes that have occurred throughout the past years was influenced by the dynamic forces on earth and many other causes like the intensity of the sunlight and the human activities that has caused an increase in green gas emission.
It has been known that the Earth’s climate during the early ages has gone into fluctuation. Many people believe that the Artic area could have been an area with tropical climate with no ice accumulation. The Carbon Dioxide and temperatures from the ice cores and other sources has been found to lead to the speculations. In the last 500,000 years, many ice ages with ice sheets covering big portions of the northern hemisphere has been well known within the planet Earth. This was known as the Ice ages when the certain parts of the Earth were covered by ice. The climate has completely changed during the interglacial periods where ice retreated to the poles or entirely melted.
These changes are linked to the natural causes such as the amount of solar radiation when the sun got brighter with a higher energy level output it passed into the different latitudes of the Earth. When the Carboniferous occurred is has been thought that the tectonics may have caused the large-scale storage of Carbon which increased in glaciations and cause change in the interaction of the atmosphere and oceans. The Carbon Dioxide levels changes was thought to be the cause of the climate changes during the ice ages.
In the last 2,000 years the climate has been stable. There has been some climate mild fluctuation and changes but seen as a more natural occurrence. What is happening now is viewed as a little different. The increase in the greenhouse gases are thought to be the cause of the increasing temperature of the Earth. Since the Industrial Revolution in the 1750s the amount of greenhouse gases that are trapped in the environment has increase with human actives. The burning of biomass and fossil fuel has really contributed the most sources of greenhouse gases believed to be causing progressively global warming. Volcanic eruptions have also took their share of affecting the climate which causes climate cooling for a of a few years. All these changes helped to cause changes in sea water levels which caused periods of rainfalls as well as long periods of dry weather in some areas.
If the current problem continues with an increasing Greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere, there will be an increase in temperatures on the next century. These conditions can cause changes with the precipitation and atmospheric moistures due to an increase in evaporation which is caused by the raise d temperatures. A period of long drought and long rain could happen. More snowfall will be expected over central Greenland and Antarctica. More storm patterns will occur and sea levels will also be affected more.
