DESCRIBE WHAT ROLE , RESPOSIBILITIES AND BOUNDARIES AS A TEACHER WOULD BE, IN TERMS OF THE TEACHING TRAINING CYCLE. The roles, responsibilities and boundaries of a teacher are constantly evolving and dynamic in order to meet the individual needs of the pupils. The teaching cycle entails scheming and planning lesson according to the current syllabus in addition cater for individual needs also integrate visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning styles. Catering for individual needs facilitate the teacher flexibility towards meeting the learner’s requirements. Uppermost the main role of the teacher is to encourage pupils to communicate their thoughts, ideas towards a current concept that is been taught and to ensure that aims along with objectives are met as well as, that they are subjective and significant to the learner. A teacher should keep up to date with educational policies (including, at the national level, Every Child Matters (DFES 2003) and numerous documents at the local level) and legal requirements including health and safety legislation and the Equality Act 2010. It is the teacher’s responsibility to make students aware of the health and safety issues (Health and Safety Act 1974) whilst in the learning premises, for example teachers have to go through fire regulations and also point out the fire exists, as well as the assembly points. The learner’s safety is the teachers’ responsibility while in the learning environment. In Psychology classes students are encouraged to associate past experiences in relation to diverse behaviours, thoughts, feelings they have encountered thus linking past personal experiences to the current topic, giving them the ability to understand the topic through individual associative learning. A teacher has to have the ability to organize. These organization skills are needed both for planning effective learning and for maintaining order in the classroom. The teacher is responsible for providing a safe learning environment, as well as establishing some ground rules with the help of the learners. When planning the lesson the teacher should make sure there are sufficient resources for the lesson delivery, and should also be flexible when things do not go according to plan for various reasons like a room being double booked, IT failure or a problem with the photocopier. The teacher is also an administrator. This includes doing many tasks like the initial enrolment of students, keeping a record of attendance (a requirement for funding purposes and incase of emergency (e.g. a fire) and complying with the Data Protection Act 1998. All learners are entitled to equal opportunities, and any communication with students should reflect this .I believe that all students have the right to learn, and that this right includes the right to appropriate resources and to a fair amount of the teacher’s time and attention. Britain is marked out by significant diversity in terms of ethnicity, gender, language, social class, religion, sexual orientation, disability and other factors, but these differences should never be grounds for discriminating against certain groups of students A teacher should be committed to the fundamental principle of equality for all and therefore treat very one equally. It is every teacher’s role to be aware of the learners needs, especially those with special learning needs and it is the teacher’s responsibility to advocate conditions to ensure their success. This can be done during the designing, implementing and evaluation of the educational programme (planning, delivery and evaluation). The teacher should use an assortment of different methods to carry out formative and summative assessments, including presentations, contributions to discussions, oral and written responses to questions and more extended writing, and record the progress of students carefully so that future teaching can be geared to their needs.
