Dating Violence has increased in the recent years because of the economic downturn. Social stress in childhood and young adulthood has a direct link to increased dating. Unlike rapes involving strangers, date and acquaintance rapists use psychological pressure or physical strength to press for sex, rather than weapons or threats of violence. Some people react by denying the significance of the incident, and they are left feeling that it was just a misunderstanding than a crime.
