My second assignment Dr. Hussein was to search for the international accreditation associations other than the (ACEJMC)
In accessing the quality of journalism it is noted that internationally at least three
systems were being used in the accreditation and recognition practice( in the Uk, US and
the Francophone countries)
However, after researching the sources it was found out that is was not that the
equation is not that simple, as there are a considerable number of accre4diting and
quality assurance institutes world wide.
A. ACEJMC: ( United States)
The most prominent body or institutes( discussed in first part)
B. ( EJTA) ( Europe)
The European Journalism Training Association is one of the associations involved in
The ( WJEC). It has developed its own set of learning out comes called the Tartu
Declaration that list 10 competencies enumerated by sub points.
The UK government driven system typically assessed an institution against its own
stated objectives rather than any external definition of excellence. This doesn’t easily
allow for a comparison between different institutions.
The ( EJTA) which was established in Brussels in 1990, groups more than 50 journalism centers, schools and universities.
From 23 countries across Europe, they work together to improve Journalism
Education in Europe enabling members to collaborate on exchanges and teachings
and research projects and meet regularly to exchange, ideas and information.
Membership of EJTA is institutional and not individual.. the association is a non
profit organization and legal body under Dutch Law. There are 52 members with
application from 8 pending.
Difference:
Language barrier in Europe makes it difficult for journalism students than the case in the United States.
C. The Francophne System” Theophraste Label”
Part of the AUF (University Agency for the Promotion of the French Language)
Institutional Network, the Théophraste Network saw the day in March 1994,
when 14 French-language centres for training and perfecting in the field of
journalism decided to create an association which proposed to develop
cooperation and exchanges amongst its members.
Among the Network’s goals are, most notably, to contribute to the definition of
the specific elements inherent to the very nature journalistic activity, to develop
educational methods in the field in the face of the technological and economic
necessity of today’s world, within the boundaries of cross-cultural respect and
understanding, and to reflect on the practice of journalism and the ethical issues it
raises.
Aside from exchanges in terms of people and documents, the Network has
insisted on : organizing summer caucuses, to which students and educators from
the different training centres are invited; promoting training session for
educators, which gave rise to numerous exchanges between journalists on the path
to becoming an educator in the field, and members of academia furthering there
knowledge and experience in the field; organizing and participating in seminars
on the evolution of the field, in cooperation with universities in the field of
communications, and other international institutions.
The Francophone system(“ Theophraste Label”)
Categorizes its focus in terms of three areas:
Criteria related to the means of implementation
Criteria related to training content
Criteria related to maintaining relevance
D. ( FELAFACS) (PERU)
(Latin America Federation Of associations of Communication Schools)
The ( FELAFACS), is an (NGO) that groups more than 300 faculties and or schools of communication distributed across 21 Latin American countries.
Aims:
To promote permanent bonds throughout the national and international associations
working directly or indirectly in this field and communication schools in America. To
improve the education of professional social communicators from a scientific,
technological and ethical angle so as to instill social awareness directed towards
independent development and social progress, with due respect for national realities.
UNESCO and FELAFACS presented the mapping of training institutions in the area of communication in Latin America and the Caribbean that they jointly produced
This work, which started in 2008, aimed to map educational institutions in the field of
communication and journalism, as well as their training programmes (academic,
technical, post-graduate or hands-on) in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to produce
a quantitative and qualitative report concerning the training programmes.
The work was divided into six regions: Brazil, Southern Cone (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay), Andean countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela), Central America, Caribbean and Mexico, and was conducted by six researchers.
Difference:
In Latin America most universities have fixed curricula with out electives or student mobility due mainly to budget problem.
The main journalism schools are in mexico ( 44), Brazil ( 126), Chile ( 14), Colombia( 17), Panama (2), Costarica (2).
The universities in latin America has traditionally lacked th practice of “peer accreditation”
Catholic University inSantiago reached out to the US based accreditimg council for journalism amd mass coomunication( ACEJMC) for a mode that has led to the new council for accreditation in journalism education( CLAEP).
The only difference is that the Latin America Accreditation team does not access diversity.

Difference:
Since it functions with a variety of consistencies, its different than other organizations around the world in the sense that they rely on volunteer academicians to organize annual meetings publish research and undertake projects.
(AMIC) is launching major initiatives with the WHO and Unesco to increase the involvement of mass media in health nutrition educational efforts.
F. High Way Africa

the responsibility of building a network for quality for the Arab universities.
The first program to be accredited in the arab world:
A quality academic accomplishment achieved within a short period to be added
to the record of the Arab educational institutions." AMMAN --- November 15th,
2009 - The MBA program at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business/German
Jordanian University (TAG-College) has recently received accreditation by the
Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). The
accreditation procedure has verified and confirmed that the program has all the
quality elements required by a Master program, including those specified in the
European MBA Guidelines.
The MBA program at TAG-College is the first in the Arab World to achieve this
prestigious accreditation notwithstanding being one of the most recently
introduced programs in the Arab region. The program was unconditionally
accredited for 5 years; which is the highest rank of initial accreditation that is only
granted to programs which fully satisfy all requirements and quality standards.
TAG-College's MBA program is the first to be accredited by FIBAA in the Arab
world despite of its young age. The first batch of graduates from the program
was during summer 2009.
FIBAA is a an International institution that has been awarded "full membership" in the
International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education
(INQAAHE). Furthermore, it enjoys full membership at the European Association

quality assurance agencies that operate in Europe and have proven their
credibility and reliability Accreditation Agency mainly active in Europe. In
Germany, FIBAA has been entitled to bestow the seal of the German
Accreditation Council for academic programs in the fields of economic studies,
management, law and social sciences
what about (FIBAA) and (INQAAHE) and ( EQAR), would you like me to research on…
Doctor Hussein:
honestly I am overwhelmed with sources and accreditation institutions , I am afraid
That I am going very broad I mean off topic …so enshalah I hope you put me on track on
