Dear Diary,
It’s been six whole months now since we moved to our new house and my new school, six whole months and still nobody wants to talk to me. I have no friends at all at school, there’s only one person in the entire place who actually talks to me and that is my teacher, Mr. Fry. My parents are always on my back asking me why I never want to go out on the weekends and have fun with my friends, I don’t have the guts to tell them that I really don’t have any. All the kids in my class are friends in school and out of school to they all play sport together and go to the movies together, it’s only a small group of people but it feels like the whole world is against me. I can’t take it anymore, all I ever do in class is sit in the back row in the corner by myself and take notice of what everyone else is doing or saying. The closest person that sits near me is whoever doesn’t fit on the table next to where I am and even then they turn their chair to the edge of that table and face their back to me. I never did anything wrong to these people yet none of them have said one word to me since I started. I remember my first day when Mr. Fry introduced me to the class; they didn’t even turn from what they were talking about in their big group in the middle of class.
Dear Diary,
It has been two weeks since my last entry and since then I have had my 15th birthday. I was really excited for it until I realized I have nobody to celebrate it with besides my family. Mum and Dad asked me why I hadn’t invited anyone to the family get together, and I just told them that I had but they were busy, I didn’t even think about asking anyone … they probably wouldn’t have responded to what I was saying anyway. Over the last couple of days something has changed, Mr. Fry has suddenly become really nice to me, and yes he was always nice but the last few days he’s been even nicer. He gave me an A on my math’s test, when I didn’t even answer half the questions. He’s been letting me leave earlier then everyone else at the end of the day and he keeps telling me that he is there for me to talk to if I need to talk to someone. It’s really strange or maybe I’m just over thinking things. Oh well I better go and get this homework done otherwise I’ll be in trouble.
“But officer, she’s just a young girl!” I yelled
“Look lady, your daughters only been gone for a few hours, there’s nothing we can do, she probably just went to a friend’s house after school and hasn’t told you. Just go home and try to relax I’m sure she will come home” said the officer.
The officer just wouldn’t budge my little girl was missing and he wouldn’t do anything about it. I had to go home and find something that would help me see where she was or had gone to. I pulled into the driveway and it clicked. I need to search through her bedroom, there’s bound to be something in there that could help, a note saying where she was, a phone number of a friend from school. I leaped up the stairs and ran into her bedroom, it was spotless as always. Ashleigh’s school bag wasn’t there, I checked in her bedside draws nothing but clothes and school work. I searched on top of her desk, nothing, I looked in her desk draws, nothing. I fell to the ground and burst into tears. As I began to stand up I noticed that her computer was still on. So I turned on the screen and searched on her desktop. As I came across a word document that was named “Diary” I started to feel relieved. As I read the words “Mr. Fry was suddenly being really really nice to me…” I panicked, I immediately printed off the diary entries. I was going to take these to the police hoping that they could do something now, but before I left the house I called the school.
“Hi, I was just wondering if Mr. Fry was in today.”
“I’ll just check for you … No sorry he wasn’t in today, as a matter of fact he didn’t even tell us he was not coming in today” said the school office attendant.
I started finding it hard to breathe, my heart dropped. I hung up the phone ran to the car and immediately, I eventually got to the police station and told the officer everything I knew. He told me he would get people straight on it and get them out to the teacher’s house but for now, all I could do is wait. After hours and hours of just sitting in the police station just running over different scenarios that may have happened I finally got an answer … there was nothing left but a note from Amy.
Dear mum,
I couldn’t handle it anymore, Mr. Fry is the only person who I nice to me. He’s the only person who didn’t treat me like I didn’t exist. I love you and dad both don’t ever forget that but now I finally feel like I belong.
