Running head: COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION Communication and Collaboration Abstract In this day and time, the most important thing is communication especially in a group. Because of society consists of different religious beliefs, cultural backgrounds, and personality traits that make individuals. Based on my own assessment I have determined that my learning styles consist of being logical-mathematical, bodily kinesthetic, and intrapersonal. My personality types consist of being an organizer, giver, and adventurer. Communication and Collaboration Learning styles and personality types are important to team building. My personal goal is to incorporate each of the learning style and personality type to better communicate within the learning team environment. Based on my learning styles and personality types they are best for planning or mapping out team goals. By doing this I can help in organizing and keeping goals on track for completion. As one of my personality types a giver, I am willing to put forth the extra effort to help each member of the group in achieving each individual task. The intrapersonal learner would bring well thought out process to the table for team discussion. The bodily- kinesthetic learning style people are busy bodies. They enjoy staying active as much as they can. The hand on approach to figuring something out is the way I take in knowledge. Keeping the team full of energy allows everyone to be eager about completing task. Different personality types and learning styles determine the method of communication and collaboration that individuals in a group will use. An important thing is to identify each communication type and learning style within the group in order of effectively communicates with each other. Understanding everyone learning styles and communication types will greatly improve the communication within the group or organization. Individual learning style and communication types can be a barer in the collaboration of the group. We as individuals must learn to work through or differences in or to achieve goals not only as individual are as a group or organization. Once everyone understands how to communicate with one another the group or organization will continue to build a strong relationship that will help in achieving his or her goals. Although in a group or organizational environment there will be a leader elected or assigned is important to understand that all member have just as an important role. Each member may individual task assigned to him or her but the goal is to complete the task. Sometimes this may require helping each other complete their individual task or just motivating or pointing them in the right direction to complete their task. Often it is important to keep an open line of communication to help other in the group with their assigned task. An important aspect of a team is to communicate and to come to a conclusion on the solution to the problem or task at hand. Keep the line of communication open whether by phone or e-mail. In conclusion the biggest challenge is to maintain open communications to achieve the over goal.
