Open mindedness is crucial because it allows us to learn from each other. Again, diversity promotes learning; learning about each other, learning different ways of doing things and getting differing perspectives on life and the task at hand than your own. While this can be very helpful in a team, it can also hinder a team. It is possible that personal prejudices and fear of change can keep someone from opening up or trusting other team members because of their race, creed or place of origin. Personally, I feel that those differences should be embraced because it is these differences that will be able to broaden your sphere of knowledge. I can understand being afraid of accepting someone else’s opinions because they are different from your own. However, if you keep an open mind, you might be able see a different side of the argument and maybe, it will be a side that you might even agree with. • How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect collaboration' Depending on how the group is set up then diversity and attitude can work with or against the group. If a person’s attitude is more negative or not caring then it can have a impact on the group by making it so that the rest of the group needs to pick up the slack and work harder to achieve the goal. On the other hand a member of the group with a positive drive can effect collaboration in a way that's infectious for the others in the group. People can learn from each others’ work habits by seeing the strengths of others and what they can do themselves to better work with the team. When there is good teamwork it helps what is learned for the whole group. Much more can be gained from an assignment when everyone had an equal share in putting it together. How does personal responsibility influence the work and success of a group' • How does personal responsibility influence the work and success of a group' Personal responsibility can affect the group based off how timely they are and how well they contribute. If a person doesn't give their part then it will take longer for the assignment to get completed or it will be missing things that can affect the grade as a whole. If everyone is responsible then the assignment will look great and achieve its goal. If everyone takes the goal of the group personally responsible, then everyone has ownership of the goal. You have to be just as diligent, as if it were your own project or work, as you do in a group.
