Club IT, Part One
Club IT was created from the dreams of two ambitious individuals who gained knowledge and interest in owning their own club after being musicians in one. After graduating with degrees in Business Administration and gaining knowledge from working in a nightclub, Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada decided to make their dream a reality. Their mission and clientele will provide a direction as to what Ruben and Lisa want to accomplish and who will be using their products and services. Identifying the type of information resources needed and how it should be managed will create revenue, save money, and provide our valued customers with quality service.
Club IT’s mission as stated by Ruben and Lisa says, “We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ’s, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT” (Club IT, 2010). Club IT offers a variety of music such as hip-hop, techno, electronic, Top 40s, live bands and a live DJ which would attract college students who are looking for a place to unwind and “boogie down.” Because of their high energy lighting that brings fun and energy, Club IT’s clientele would also consist of business people who are in their 20s, those in their 40s, and maybe even 50s. The atmosphere is not only made for students of business individuals but especially for friends, and those who seek to build a community like their mission states.
Club IT’s information resources has been managed primarily by Ruben and Lisa and there are many areas where development is needed. The role of an IT department is to help a manager in “key decision making to meet your business strategy” (Industrial and Financial System, 2010). We will focus on the hardware, software, data, network, and training to We will overhaul our IS in the front and back of the house so that we can collect, interpret, and use data so we can do business quicker, with more reliable way of storing necessary data, and giving Ruben and Lisa a more efficient way to do business and keep up with existing competition. The IT department will need to manage all IS functions such as initiating and designing specific strategic IS, incorporating the internet and electronic commerce into the business, managing system integration, including the Internet, intranets, and extranets, and supporting end-user computing just to name a few.
As an intern for Club IT the strategy for competitive advantage would be in customer orientation. The kinds of information I would need deals with what would make the customer happy. Information would include the type of services the customer would expect, the quality of our products/services such as food, music, and environment, discounts, membership, special events/activities, and so on. Knowing what the customer wants and expects will help Club IT to make decisions that will build a customer base and generate revenue. Ruben and Lisa has taken an enormous step in accommodating their customers by doing extensive interior renovation of the club which provided 6,000 square feet of space, seating for 220, a menu that consist of appetizers and short orders, and a bar with four pour-stations. I would incorporate the information collected into Club IT without losing the identity of the nightclub and making sure Ruben’s and Lisa’s mission is heading in the right direction. I believe in providing the right kind of services with our customers as our focus we would definitely generate revenue for Club IT.
Club IT will be able to help build a community with the support of information technology and the steps need to fulfill Ruben and Lisa’s dream. Through the different types of entertainment and genre their clientele will be able to enjoy all the assets Club IT will provide. Customers and employees alike will be able to benefit from an updated IS that will give dependable, and excellent service. The IS will be managed by an IT specialist who will make sure the business will operate properly and effectively. Club IT will be able to create an environment where their customers are satisfied with their quality products and services, and owners are pleased with the progress made through IT.
